Who needs Terry Ave when you can have Beechwood.

Fantastic site, well laid out with lots of space between units. Good service facilities if perhaps under pressure at peak periods. Really good dog walking area even off the lead. Kids have a very good play area. Wardens are real stars, they even talk to members and use a hand cart for waste collection just so they can stop and chat, other sites need to take note and get off those tractor units which mean they don't have to communicate. Arrival and departure seemed relaxed (no clock watching for midday.) The wardens appear to have bought in to the new club "we can say yes" Overall a brill site, goodbye Terry Ave Access to York, P & R within a mile, £1 return for OAP's

Two nights passing through

Perfect location for visiting York close to Park and Ride, also for getting out onto the Moors.  Wardens very helpful . We found the site to be noisy at night time as close to the main roads in and out of York. The facilities  were clean but somewhat tired,I was informed  a refurbishment  is planned. Request could the "Washing up facilities "  not be between the entrances to the ladies loo. Lovely to see guys washing up etc but not appropriate through the door to the Ladies . The washing up are should be separate.  The site is well cared for ,credit to the wardens who manage it.

Park and ride into York easy to get to, also perfect for Yorkshire moors and the York moors Steam Railway .Will definitely go back again  .Well done to all who look after the site.

Our first visit

After years of fighting to get a space in the CC Terry Ave car park we have arrived at Beechwood Grange near the P & R at Monks Cross, York. What a lovely difference, instead of small gravel pitches in a car park at Terry Ave, this site offers loads of grass with hard standings. Good dog walking and play areas for the kids, even a Boules pitch and mini goal posts/nets. The Wardens are the best so far in our Yorkshire trip and just show how they can offer excellent customer service standards (please note Knaresborough). For those wanting quality on site and close to a major city this is the one for York, we will not bother with Terry Ave again, who needs the hassle.

Busy on a Bank Holiday

Stayed here for just a 1 night stopover on our way home at the end of August. Site was very busy with lots of young families. We pitched up as far away from the play area as was possible, but still had children riding up and down the roadway outside our van until dusk, and then again the next morning - but I guess you can expect that on a Bank Holiday weekend. I am sure that the site would be very different outside school and Bank Holidays. The site itself was pleasantly laid out, and very clean, tidy and well kept, which shows how hard the wardens & staff are working even at busy times. It is situated on a horse stud farm, and dogs cannot be walked off site or down the site entrance road (must be taken in the car), so dog walking is limited to the site only, unless you are going off site somewhere in the car.

Another great trip to Beechwood Grange

We stayed for six nights, friendly and helpful wardens. Shower block nice and clean, what a great idea the little paper slips were in the info room all with driving instructions to park and ride, shops etc. Easy to go to York by the park and ride, there are lots of museums and shops you need more than one day. Also lots of other places to go to in the area, we like to visit the gardens. Been many times before and will be back again.

Excellent welcome

We have visited quite a few caravan club sites and not always had the friendliest of welcomes. Not at York Beechwood though. The wardens Trevor and Pat couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They were assisted by 2 trainee wardens who were also very accommodating( sorry can't recall their names! ). The site is very well laid out and spotlessly clean. We take our Border Terrier with us and although we couldn't walk out the site due to the nearby racing stables, there is a brilliant dog walking field which has long grass in areas to make it more interesting for the dogs. All in all a very pleasant stay and we will be back next year.

Lacy caravaner

I recently spent a week on a hard standing pitch at Beechwood Grange and I was disgusted with the amount of cigarette ends that someone had discarded onto the gravel, especially when the service point with dustbins was no more than 20yards away. It is not the responsibility of the wardens to clean up this sort of rubbish from the pitch, they have enough to do, surely it is the persons using the pitch to do this and think of the next person who will be using it.

Wonderful Retreat

Had an great week spent at this site. It's a credit to the Caravan Club. Friendly and helpful wardens. Toilet blocks were very clean, with lots of hot water. Looking forward to seeing them refurbished on our next visit. Very peaceful and quiet which was a benefit when relaxing on holidays. Will definitely be returning.

York alternative

Excellent site on the outskirts of York. It's location suited our purposes on this occasion as we needed easy access to the Wolds. Easy access to the centre of York via Park and Ride which is less than 5 minutes drive away. Excellent shopping facilities adjacent to Park and Ride. Toby Inn serving excellent food at very reasonable prices within walking distance. Only drawback, some might find the traffic noise from the A64 intrusive but in all honesty it didn't bother us much at all.
