Great location

Great location, very near centre of York (10/15 mins walk) with river to one side and a park to the other, The other sides of the site had houses/hotel so may have felt a little over looked, but we were the park side and that was great. We used Streamline taxis to get about, excellent service, prompt, friendly drivers and not expensive, highly recommend.

Heart of Yorkshire

Even the Vikings didn’t get as close up and personal with York as you do staying at this premier site. Yorkshire at its best with the Caravan and Motorhome Club at its heart.

Good Central Site

Great site for visiting York, facilities and site very well run. Had a good welcome and chat from the warden when we arrived. Found the site close to city centre, enjoyed our visit

Location, location, location - thoroughly enjoyed our visit

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night short break on this excellent site. Brilliant location for visiting York, didn’t need to move the car ( good saving on car parking!) lovely, easy walk along the side of the river into York. Given proximity to the city, the site was quiet, far more so than we had expected. Site is compact as might be expected in the city but with so much leisure space directly outside of the site that was not an issue. Rowntree park ( next to the site) ideal for families and dog walking. Very friendly, efficient team welcomed us and worked tirelessly to ensure the excellent facilities remained immaculate at all times, even though the site was full throughout our stay. There is so much to enjoy in York, whatever your interests. We enjoyed the lovely shops and eateries on Bishy Road ( accessed via the back gate of the site) Thoroughly enjoyed our first ever visit, we will return and have already recommended the site to others. Do read and follow the good guidance on the club site on how best to approach the site, DO NOT follow Sat Nav Thank you to the team there, we will be back

Perfect location

Great site. Perfectly located for easy access into the city. Facilities were spotless and warm. Site was very tidy. Welcoming staff. Rowantree park (just behind the site) was handy for the dogs. Loads of dog friendly places to eat. Ate at the Masons Arms and the Pavement Vaults. Site was full but quiet. Would definitely return

A Great site for later in the year

Another great stay at York. Last two days a bit of concern with the river rising but it has to be hoped that last years flood defence work has improved the situation. By no means a picturesque site but it’s all about the city and what’s available locally. Lots of history from walking the walls, pop into the Minister, visit the Castle Museum, the Jorvik centre , Railway Museum to name a few. Wander round the streets and the Snickleways to take in the history and the sites. For shoppers a good selection in the city but for those wanting more the Vanguard Centre, Monks Cross and the Designer Centre close by. Drive or bus to Thirsk, Scarborough, Filey, Malton, Pickering, Beverley, Leeds and others, if you want to see more of Yorkshire. Numerous Restaurants, Cafes and pubs to feed the inner man and rest awhile. We all have our favourites. A trip to the Theatre Royal was a first for us to see Murder in the Dark, a change to our usual evening entertainment. Members who have used the site before will need no telling about the brilliant “Bishy” road shops just out the back gate that can cater for all your needs.

Nice site, great location

Stayed here for the first time in September 2023. Nice clean site, good facilities, staff pleasant and friendly. The location is great, a mile away from the city centre, an easy way in. A bit of noise from kids playing in the local park, but otherwise a peaceful site so close to the city.

Great location

I have stayed at Rowntree Park many times before and would recomend it to members that enjoy walking into York. The location is superb. The site does not excel with facilities for young children but there is an adjacent park which is within easy walking distance. On this occasion I was disappointed to have something negative to report but hopefully this is a one off and members will not have this issue in future. The showers in both the mens and ladies toilet blocks were cold or barely warm. I reported this to the wardens each day and was told differing things each time. First day I was told that there were no issues. Second day I was told that the temperature of the water was between 42 and 44 degrees which was as it should be under the club rules. This does not seem to be warm enough to my mind but I have never actually checked what the correct temperature for a warm shower should be. It doesn't seem right that this temperature is measured with the heat set at maximum which means that it can only get colder when adjusted by the user. I was also told that the HSE determine that the showers can not be any hotter! Really? On the third day I was told that one boiler had a fault and that someone was due that day to look at it. On the fourth day, a Sunday, I was told that two of the three boilers were broken and someone was due to repair them on the next day (Monday). As for the wardens, I would suggest that they might invest the less than two minutes that it would take to go with a member to check out a fault when the issue is reported. This was particularly an issue with the problem that I reported about shower temperatures. It would remove any doubt if the warden had checked at the time I reported the issue rather than at some later point when the water temperature had 'recovered' to an acceptable temperature because the showers had not been used for a period of time. We spent much more time talking about it than it would have taken to walk next door and turn on the shower, so being too busy or running late didn't make sense. I accept that wardens have their schedule but be sensible and reasonable please. Would I stay here again given the above? Yes, the location is too good not to.

Amazing site and location

Amazing location, superb, helpful staff, usual high Caravan and Motorhome club standards, highly Recommended. York is the main reason to stay here, but tafter a day or so of seeing the sights, happy to stay on the site and relax, with superb walks along the river and the adjacent park. The shops on the road accessible from the gate are just what you need for a quick stock up, or a meal treat. Worth every penny.
