All that s site should be

This was our first visit to this area of France - we usually head for a beach - and after much deliberation we chose this site because of its reviews. It didn't disappoint. It is a pretty campsite of 180 pitches on the edge of village of Saint-Cybranet, about 6 miles south west of Sarlat en Caneda. The small River Ceou forms one edge of the site and some pitches border it. The banks are quite steep although there is a good low wooden fence along the edges of those pitches to prevent accidents. There is access to the river and, near the camp entrance, a small beach and swimming area. The campsite is set among trees so there is plenty of shade although it seems that most pitches get some sun, at times, during the day. All of the pitches look to be of a good size (some were huge) and there are no restrictions on the alignments of tents or vans which means you can pitch up to maximise the available sun spots. Electric points tend to be the typical French two pin variety rather than the standard ISO so make sure that you go prepared with an adaptor. There is a very good, clean pool area with plenty of sun beds although no shade. It can get extremely busy at times so don't expect a quiet swim. A local boulanger visits every morning between 8 and 8.30 with a good selection of bread etc. The main shower/toilet block has just been extended and, like the pool, was always clean. There is a second block near the entrance, a bit more dated but still very clean. During our stay most of the campers were Dutch or Belgium and all very friendly. You are not far from many different tourist spots, the Dordogne, chateaux, caves and pretty hilltop villages. Sarlat has a lovely typical French market on Wednesdays and Saturdays and a range of good priced restaurants (we do like our long French lunches!!). I thoroughly recommend this site with the only warning that I suspect it gets very busy during the season!
