We've just had another fab-u-lous holiday at this wonderful site. The site itself ticks all the boxes - huge pitches (think 3 + cc pitches), you can pitch where you want, the loo blocks are modern and clean, the shade is wonderful, the pool is fantastic (now heated) and the river Ceou running through the site is beautiful. The owners keep the whole site in pristine condition and are pleasant and helpful. The site location must be in the most beautiful part of the Dordogne valley. The scenery is stunning. There are many chateaux to visit, gardens, pretty villages, beautiful bastide towns, such as Domme, Beynac, Castelnaud and further away Monpazier. There's an abundance of caves with rivers running through & stalactites and stalagmites (gouffre de Padirac), several caves with cave art, Lascaux, Font de Gaume and Les Combarelles to name but a few. You can walk, cycle or canoe.One of the highlights of our every visit is to canoe down the Dordogne, stopping off for a picnic, a drink or even to swim. This was our tenth visit and we were still visiting new places. Sarlat is a beautiful nearby medieval town with warm stone buildings and plenty of restaurants to choose from. la Cantine in the Daglan is an excellent restaurant. Add to this the lovely fellow campers, who keep returning. We can't recommend Bel Ombrages highly enough. We're hoping to be back next year.
