Interesting Stop.

Lake Bled and the Vintgar Gorge were sights we wanted to include in our European Tour, so a stay for 2 nights at Bled was a must for us. There were two outfits travelling together but we found the book-in reception was OK for those who had copies of their booking details, but not easy for those who didn't. We were also surprised that we ended up on a hard-standing pitch of UK regulation size, but with two caravans on the same pitch. In order to make the most of the space we pitched with the access doors facing each other across the gravel. This was not unusual as many of the motorhomes were parked in a similar way, with two on one pitch. However, we enjoyed our stay in Bled.

Ideal site in a great location

Great location right on edge of Lake Bled with a beach immediately in front of the site, where there was also a restaurant, bar and small supermarket. Great for biking or walking, and canoeing on Bled was superb. Site is just under heavily wooded cliff and pitches are reasonably large and most have some shade. Sanitary blocks were clean and well maintained. Reception staff were polite and helpful. Small bakery cart, and sometimes fruit cart, came onsite each morning. For motorhomers - worth stocking up before getting to site as limited food shopping available in Bled. Also, Motorhome service point on site was also used as a car wash by other campers, so allow time to queue for check out !

Busy but great site

We stayed here for 3 nights in June. Our pitch was about 3 rows in so very handy for the lake and also one of the 6 toilet blocks. You can pay for your own private bathroom. Facilities were excellent, the restaurant and bar were very welcoming. We cycled into Bled and also to Vintgar Gorge. Both very easy routes. This area of the lake is very busy with people swimming, there are no sun beds and parasols as shown in the photographs on here and also on the campsites own websites. There were coaches and cars turning in the entrance to the site so it could get a bit busy. A pastry trolley travels around the site every morning selling delicious fresh pastries and bread. Was very sorry to leave here. The dawn chorus was beautiful.

Great stay at Bled

Stayed here for 4 nights in June 2022. Busy campsite in a popular tourist destination - campsite however coped well - great facilities in good condition - Initial pitch was a bit muddy - although the other pitches around seemed fine. Upgraded to a larger hard standing pitch in a quieter area which was excellent. Great to swim in Lake Bled and wasn't spoiled by it being busy - large lake so plenty room and water was very clear. Enjoyed the onsite restaurant and bar - all staff across the site friendly and helpful The campsite was dog friendly - however did take to bus to Ljubljana 56 km away. Our research before attempting this had suggested there would be no problems in taking a dog on public transport in Slovenia. The first driver allowed the dog on bus but when we tried to return we were refused by a grumpy bus driver- luckily found a more sympathetic driver on the next bus who took us back to Bled. When we checked the website for that particular bus company it suggested that they don't transport dogs unless in a carrier- so may be best to check the website for the specific bus companies in advance when in Slovenia.

Excellent site in a fabulous location

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Camping Bled ( except for the parking ticket for parking on some grass in the middle of no where) The site was quite busy (Easter weekend) but plenty of room and facilities. We had pitch 231 which had a view of Bled castle and was large. Bit of a hike for water though. The sanitary blocks were new and spotlessly clean. There was a block of private bathrooms and even a pitch with it’s own hot tub! The reception staff were courteous, efficient and spoke excellent English, as did the waiters in the fabulous restaurant overlooking the lake. We had two of the best meals we’ve had abroad there. There was a a fresh bread service to your pitch each day. The walk round the lake ( 6kms) is lovely and Vintgar Gorge a must

A Slovenian gem

Never been to Slovenia but so glad we chose to stay at this campsite. Amazing location with lots to see and do. The site is large and was busy even at the start of September but there was no noise or rowdiness and despite constant movement of campers reception staff were efficient and kept things moving. Pitches easily accessed on well tarred roads. Not huge pitches but more than adequate. We pitched up and even with canopy out were not encroaching on neighbours. There are 4 toilet blocks alll well maintained. One was very modern - monsoon showers and unlimited water at no cost and no eco type push button after 3 mins approach!! Small supermarket, restaurant and cafe/bar are handy at the entrance to the site but there’s also plenty of shops in Bled which is a pleasant lakeside stroll or cycle. An added bonus is the travelling baker”s cart which supplies fresh croissant, pastries etc daily. Cafe Belvedere well worth a visit for the most heavenly Bled cream cake.... has to be the best. Well worth a return visit.

Unbeatable Location but cramped and inevitably noi

This is our third visit - which is a recommendation in its own right. However the experience does change markedly with the season. Our stay in August saw every pitch (400+) taken and more tents lining the valley sides on bare rocks using stones rather than pegs. The back half of the camp is a miss mash of haphazard camping so if you prefer a marked pitch go for the pitches 1-100 ish. The children loved the park and trampolines and direct access to the lake. The on site bread delivery was excellent. The upkeep, electric and access issues mentioned by previous reviewers remain.

Response from the Site:

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your recent stay at Camping Bled. We are continuing to improve our pitches to ensure they are of a good quality for our customers. Last year we renovated the pitches in areas A and B (pitches up to 112). Last week on Monday we started renewing the rest of the campsite and the construction should be finished by 1st April. We will have premium pitches in area F (with water, dranaige, electricity connection, the size of 110m2). Also the rest of areas E, D and C are beeing renowated, with new drainages so the mud and hard ground shoud be a thing of the past. It took us a long time to do this due to a building permit that is very hard to get because of the location near the lake. The acces road is another concern of us which we are trying our very best to deal with. This summer in August we marked the road with ground markings and had a security man on the road every day to turn cars that do not belong to campsite guests away. The situation was still not perfect but was a lot better. We are in the process of applying for a building permit for the entrance area of the campsite (restaurant, shop and sporting facilities and entrance and exit road) which we would like to be separated in the future in the hope that this will resolve the ongoing problem.

Superb location

See previous persons comments (On way down?) We agree with everything he has said. In addition make sure you have a Slovenian speciality which is a Kremna Rizzini which is absolutely lovely. Would definately return.

On the way down?

We had stayed here in October 2012 and rated the site high, but for the flooding when we had a couple of days downpour. We revisited at the end of May 2016 and to be honest were a little disappointed. Whilst work is going on to improve some pitches, most are poorly demarcated. Long leads are required in many cases although extensions can be borrowed at reception for a €30 deposit. There are several toilet blocks which are kept clean, but are quick to run out of loo roll and paper towels, which the staff are slow to refill. There was only one person on Reception which meant long queues to check in and out. The restaurant is excellent, with some good local dishes, although since Slovenia joined the Euro prices have gone up and it is no longer a cheap option. As for the position of the campsite, one cannot fault it. At the quiet end of the lake with superb views. half an hour's walk round one side of the lake brings you to the main town of Bled, which can get a bit crowded. Plenty of places for a beer, a coffee,a cake or a meal, then half an hour's walk back round the other side.

Loved this site

The campsite is located just across the road from beautiful Lake Bled. We took some great walks around the lake with our dog. The land train around the lake allows dogs to travel and it is, possible to hop on, hop off, as required. The site had a lovely relaxed atmosphere. A huge range of outdoor activities could be pursued in the immediate vicinity. Toilet blocks were clean but I didn't manage to have a hot shower. Possibly hot water is limited and gets used up during the day. Our dog appreciated the dog shower facility (one of the best we've seen). The restaurant was reasonably priced. We had meat skewer and roast beef with country style dumplings. We would recommend both of these dishes. We would suggest the use of insect repellent. Lots of wasps and biting insects about!
