Chateau La Foret 2017

We stayed on a super-pitch (in the older section - more shade), 2 adults and 1 dog. The pitch size was generous but not as large as some. Thankfully, it was a grassy pitch - not all are. Beware the pitches in the new section - known as 'The Village', are grassy but have little shade and no toilet block and so entail a long walk for those facilities. We used the restaurant just once; the food was tasty but the menu was limited. The outside bar area is very popular in the evenings with children and adults alike (a bouncy castle and amusements for the children and quizzes and live music for the adults). Staff at Reception were excellent, very helpful when needed e.g. booking our dog in at the local vet for his UK return. The grounds are extensive which made it a perfect site for walking our dog. The walks around the lakes and in the woods were often very quiet and it was wonderful to witness otters swimming and playing in the lake. The coast is just 20 minutes away and we strongly recommend St. Gilles-Croix-De-Vie and Les Sables d'Olonne as well worth a visit for the restaurants, markets, marinas and sea front. There are many forest walks in the area, again ideal for dog-walking. In conclusion, this is a well-run, friendly site with a range of customer nationalities including French (always a good sign).
