Return journey stopover

I can't really add anything to my earlier review on our outward journey other than to say that we ate in the restaurant on this visit and the food was excellent. The only criticism was that some of it could have been a little hotter. A great location and fantastic scenery with helpful staff.

One word....FANTASTIC !

We stayed here last year and were soooo looking forward to coming back in 2016. WOW...WOW...WOW!! Its just a fantastic site alround. A ski resort in the winter and just as good as a summer caravan / motorhome stop. Resting in a valley some 4k meters midway between Annecy and Mont Blanc. Stunning views from the site, cable cars all round taking up to the highest peaks. Restaurants in the town which is just outside the gates are top class and reasonably priced. Pitches are pretty large (we were towing a Buccaneer Cruiser and fitted in easily) 10 amps of power and SP water and drained. I just cant say anything against this site. It is one of our favourite within Europe (which I hope we REMAIN IN!). I write this review while sitting in the awing ... the wifi works al round the site. It is 30 degrees! Happy days all. Just get in your caravan / motorhome and head here!

Good location with stunning scenery

We used this site as a stopover to Italy. The location is stunning and the toilet facilities are extremely good. We felt the site needed a little tlc in the comfort pitch area. The village is very close with good facilities but not everything was open in early to mid June as some shops were not opening until later in the month. We experienced the road noise too but it was not continuous all day. Friendly and helpful staff.

Winter skiing

Recently returned from our sixth winter trip to L'Escale.  Nicholas, Catherine and their staff are very helpful and friendly.   The toilet facilities have been updated from the old separate blocks for toilets and showers to combined cabins which have 2 toilets, 2 showers and 1 privacy cubicle, supplemented by two handwashing sinks plus either baby bath or dishwashing sinks in the area just inside the door of each cabin.  There are a total of four of these cabins in a block, one of which is solely for dishwashing and laundry. We were there immediately prior to the school half term holidays and the facilities were adequate in low season but would probably be very busy in holiday times.  The sanitary blocks are very warm so no problem in the winter weather. The heated ski room and boot room are excellent and mean you are putting on dry boots every morning.  The ski bus leaves from the site entrance so no long walk in ski boots carrying gear. Snow clearing of site roads is very efficient.  The wifi coverage can be spasmodic, you may need to go to the games room to obtain consistent signals.

Nice Quiet site in the Alps.

Very good site in a beautiful part of the alps. Close to village, good shops and restaurants. Some pitches have a little road noise especially early morning but don't let that put you off it is a very nice place to be. We stayed for 14 nights in early September  2015, evenings and mornings a little chilly but we would stop there again. Very good walking in the area and close to Chamonix, Geneva and Annecy (about 1 hour).

What is not to like

We cant think of anything this site has got that we would not like. Within a few miles of Geneva, the Swiss border and Mont Blanc, its a pretty long drive. However as you get close its a wonderfully pretty run through the foothills of the Alps. Its very easy to find, not too large and most of the pitches are very large and all very flat. Go for a SP pitch for the best places. A good 10 amps and high pressure water, you will need steel pegs on the mostly stony soil. Set next to Le Grand Bornand, its a fantastic setting. The village is just outside the gate with lots of little bars and restaurants, shops etc. The site has its own indoor swimming pool, good WIFI that spreads around the site and is very helpful should you need anything. Its a good idea to come here prior to the start of July. The weather is warm and the town is quiet. This changes BIG TIME as soon as the schools are out. You are warned!! Its the site of past Olympic winter sports and the finish line to the Tour de France. We are here now having spent most of June in very hot weather. Paragliding off the mountain, cable cars and ski lifts to sample and great local food. Two large super markets within 5 minutes drive. We will certainly come here again on the way through to the South and onto the west. Annecy is half an hour away and Geneva about an hour. Lots of local markets. Enjoy...its a great destination. What is not to like. Nothing!!
