Great site - for both town and countryside

We found this to be an excellent site - warm welcome, helpful staff and a great location. We chose a hardstanding pitch (which had individual drainage - an unexpected bonus). The pitch was angled, which somehow resulted in having a spacious grassed ‘living’ area, despite actually being lined up along the main driveway into the site. The toilet block near us was immaculately clean, spacious and modern. Showers cost €1, and WiFi was free (but not very strong). It was a pleasant walk into Killarney, which was bustling and traditional, with ‘jaunting cars’, buskers and Irish dancers, and lots of great shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. We spent our one full day at this site cycling round the lakes in Killarney National Park - this was a fantastic day and definitely to be recommended. Beautiful scenery, lakes, beaches, a waterfall, an abbey and tame deer were just a few of the attractions we experienced there. If you don’t have your own bicycle, I think you can hire them from the site or from a cycle hire shop on the main road/cycle path to the National Park. If we return to Ireland, we are very likely to go back to this site, and next time we will certainly spend more than two nights there.

Location location and erm....

It's where it is that matters- just on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Kilarney with easy access towards the Ring of Kerry. Muckross house and gardens in the lovely park is a must. As for the site itself, it offers a variety of pitching locations but few are hard standings. My only criticism is that pitches are not marked and so another unit can pitch up uncomfortably Close. We would happily return!

Best so far

I'm pretty new to this Camper Van game so not too experienced. This place is the best all round that I've encountered so far in both the UK and Ireland. Nice level pitches, good, clean facilities, easy walk to a good supermarket, nice, easy stroll into Killarney with it's bars and restaurants and best of all kind, helpful staff that go the extra mile. Great place!

Fantastic site, lovely wardens

Spent 8 days here recently it's a lovely large site, well maintained. Good facilities especially for camping guests (day room with microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle etc), family area on site was good with football pitch which was separate from the pitches - well thought out. Wardens Breda and Hillary went above and beyond to help out as we had two disabled guests in our party, nothing was too much trouble. They gave us advance details of local hair and make-up for the females in our group as we attended a wedding during our stay. They even led taxis direct to our pitch on the wedding day and on another day when my husband and son were on their own Breda led taxi to site and helped them lock up and get in taxi with wheelchair etc. Very knowledgable on local area and happy to help/ suggest things to see locally. We will be back! ??

Nice site

Spent 2 nights here, parked at the very end of the site next to the river, on grass, was not offered the hard standing, site was lovely and quiet, facilities were fine but do need some upgrading.

Good location for Killarney

Friendly, helpful staff and very good facilities which are clean and well maintained. We were camped near the entrance on a spacious hard standing and therefore cannot comment on the 'family field' further into the site. Good location for visiting Killarney and other sights around the Ring of Kerry.

Not the best choice by far of the sites we stayed at.

We stayed her for 3 nights in July, arriving ahead of the Bank Holiday. We were offered 'the adult only' area when we arrived but this was already packed and was on the grass. We always prefer hardstanding for our motorhome. We were then shown the other areas, which were far more open and well spaced. This was in the family area. The facilities were ok at this stage but they were not as the clean and modern as the ones by the entrance and the standard deteriorated as the Bank Holiday and more families arrived. Children rode bikes with no thought of cars or motorhomes and small children were still out playing well after 10.30pm. The wardens were friendly and helpful, especially when it was discovered our hose would not connect to the taps to obtain water! On the plus side the site is excellent for Killarney town, Ross Castle and Muckross House, all can be visited by cycle routes.
