A delightful stay

We stayed here at the end of August for two nights en route to Southern Germany and we loved it. The site is large with a lot of cabins and lodges and I suspect in the busiest times of year it will feel crowded but although there were still lots of families with children around it was the end of the school holidays and the site was not full. Many pitches and lodges were empty and we had a lovely pitch with views to die for. The site is high on a steep hill above Gulpen and it is well designed with tiers so in our motorhome we were right at the top with nothing directly in front of us. The hill might be a challenge for walkers or cyclists but our ebikes were ideal. Nice cycling around the campsite too. The staff are delightful, friendly and helpful and the site is well kept with good, clean facilities. The showers etc were cleaned very early in the morning so particularly spotless for early risers. The pool is also sparkling with plentiful sunbeds. There is a nice shop and cafe/snack bar/ bar and fresh bread and rolls in the morning. Easy access from Zeebrugge made this a perfect stopover for us and Gulpen is a very pretty town with lovely cafes, bars and restaurants and a well stocked supermarket. You are given a ticket that gives you free access to a swimming pool with all sorts of fancy attractions in Gulpen but we didn’t use it. I imagine for children it is paradise, certainly looked inviting, and there’s an easy path downhill from the campsite. We plan to go back and explore more of the area as there is public transport to Maastricht and Aachen but I would avoid school holidays again. We loved it though.
