A great stopover

We were given the friendliest welcome of our touring holiday thank you. We were taken to our pitch not given a map. We were in a nice area away from play facilities and the older toilet facilities people did not like. Our pitch was a corner spacious plot the only minor grumble was that everyone used it as a cut through and on a few occasions they walked under our awning whilst we were sitting under it so a few more bushes! A few late nighters that liked to chat until late but everyone likes to holiday in there own way, staff were always patrolling the campsite. Shared or same sex wash rooms I chose the female facilities and was frustrated that a dad came in with the rest of the family. Clean washrooms and toilets 24/7 but no hand drying available.no hair drying facilities.  Excellent dishwashing facilities. Excellent laundry facilities although not cheap. Disappointed that the cafe was not open until after 3 in the afternoon. The shop shuts at lunchtime. We ate in the bar the food was okay but the fish was a frozen battered portion. Lots of outside seating but not many bar seats inside although you can sit at the cafe tables. We walked to the local small town. We saw the bus stop on the way back so missed a trip into Calais town. Very friendly staff. It is a 25 minute drive to/from Calais not 10 minutes as stated in their brochure. We will return to this site.

August 2015

We have stayed at this site many times and always enjoy it. There is something for everyone, families and couples, it is busy because of its location, very handy for Calais port but check in is efficient and quick. They will accommodate you if you have an early start, pitches tend to be very spacious.Staff are very friendly and helpful. Toilet and shower blocks could be better, they seem to be having some upgrading. The bar is good but the restaurant La Ferme Gourmande is superb, good food well served at a very reasonable price. This site is a firm favourite with us.

Good Location

This site is very convenient for the Channel Tunnel, is very handy for getting on the local bus into Calais for the day, cost was 1 Euro!! Will definitely use this site again.

Convenient Stopover

On the upside, the onsite cafe provided a decent meal at a reasonable price and there was a good opportunity to let dogs off the lead in the outlying fields. And this site is of course handy for the Eurotunnel. For those reasons we may stay over again. However, we felt a bit short changed on arrival to be swiftly directed to a sunless pitch on what appeared the nearest stretch of grass, behind an older sanitary block which wasn't pleasant to use, and the site at this time was packed with noisy families. For families with young children, an ideal site.

Good site, good location

Ideal for stop over travelling too and from Europe. Easy access to site as long as you do not go through the town of Guines.  The site is relaxing, no hassle and check in is very efficient.   You must try the restaurant in the grounds of the site -  La Ferme Gourmande - superb.

ideal stopover site

We have stayed at this site on several occasions for 1 night stopovers either en route to France or on our journey home. Site is easily accessible and very convenient for the Eurotunnel. On arrival, our allocated pitch was still occupied, unbeknown to the staff, however they quickly found another pitch for us, just behind the tennis courts. Our caravan is very big, and had we not had a motor mover it would have been a struggle pitching on that particular pitch. Can't comment on the showers/toilets etc as we use our own. Kids used the pool, a bit basic but ok for 1 night. Site is a bit crammed when full, the best pitches are up at the top end of the site, much quieter. Have eaten in the onsite restaurant twice in the past, once was great, once not so good, didn't bother this time. Overall, a great stopover site in a very convenient location, but wouldn't want to stay more than 1 night here.

One night stop for the EuroTunnel

The pitch we got was right next to the park - crazy golf etc, so felt very exposed next to the footpath with people staring in, and viewing my washing line. The electric hook up was through a bush right next to a holly bush - ouch. I'm guessing the one nighters get a bit of a raw deal with the pitches, our one sloped off too. The staff at reception were friendly. The site had lots to do, but the shop on site had very little in it and was expensive! I'd use again for a one nighter to board the EuroTunnel in the early morning because it was very close by.

Another review!

We have stayed here many times and at different times of the year. The atmosphere is always changing depending on the season. We always have a quick check-in and this time found a really spacious and private pitch. For a five star site the shop is not as well stocked as some of the other Les Castels and there is a lack of eating places within walking distance. The on-site restaurant too pricey for regular eating. Another niggle is that there are no pool staff to reinforce rules which spoils it for those who want a quiet swim. The toilet block for 'one-nighters' has improved greatly and we prefer it to the rest. We love the surrounding area as there are so many places to visit inland as well as along the coast.

Good site

La Bien Assise Site directions (CC) good. Here one night en route (June 2015) but have used as a stopover many, many times. (Many visitors stay for longer periods.) Reception excellent. Good sized pitches – very well maintained and attractively laid out. Well located for autoroute access to Calais and Dunkirk ferry ports and Eurotunnel terminus. Most pitches slightly sloping. Washroom / toilet facilities good and sufficient for this large site. Site bar / restaurant is well patronised. Would use the site again.

Excellent Short Stay Site

Have used this site a number of times over the past 3 - 4 years, usually one night going into France and two coming back. Reception is always friendly and helpful if somewhat brisk and efficient, very good for limited -French speakers like us. Excellent restaurant on site, plus acceptable food in the bar. Bathroom facilities always well kept. Very limited visitor points of interest in the area so a long stay is not advised.
