one night stay

I stay 03 Sept 2013, no motorhome service point on site. no notice on the website to say shop and restaurant was closed all day Sunday. When asked the staff who was very passive aggressive said..." you can walk to the village..." I pointed out we had mobility problems he just shrugged. Lovely well maintained site, only fit for a stop over. Ok if you can walk down the steep hill in 35 degree heat will not stay again.

Popular site but unsure why

This site has two advantages. 1 It is convenient for St Malo port, 2. It’s a lovely walk along the river into Dinan, BUT the path through the woods down to the river is steep, badly maintained and very slippery when wet. Beyond that I don’t know why it is so popular. The majority of the touring pitches are in the lowest, dampest part of the site, in shade virtually all day. They are uneven, and the grass is in poor condition. There are two facility blocks, toilet seats were missing in many cubicles and some people I spoke to on site thought them dirty, my view is that they were clean enough but might have needed some maintenance. One excellent feature is that the shower cubicle was large and contained a sink, the club could well pick up on this. The swimming pool was advertised as open until 15 September. It was not, despite 30 degree temperatures while we were there. (We stayed 8 nights). The shop was also closed with no explanation. Wi fi was advertised but only available in the reception area. Pitches have hedges around them which is nice for privacy but made access difficult as the pitches were clearly laid out when units were smaller. On the plus side every pitch had a tap and grey water disposal. As I mentioned earlier this is a popular site, it was pretty full during our time there, with tourers from the UK, Ireland, Channel Islands (the site stores their caravans), Germany and Netherlands. Some of these returning to the site over several years. As a result there was little or no feeling of being in France or of a French ambiance. It is not a site I am likely to revisit, even if I am travelling through St Malo.

Lovely site with a few downsides

This site is great for access to St Malo, as we did for two nights at the end of our holiday in September. Its a lovely site with a pool and restaurant, neither of which were open when we were there despite the site staying open until November. The location is great and there's a nice walk into Dinan which is really worth the visit. Downsides : whomever set the timers for the lights ought to understand that its doesn't work well if its dark at 19:30 but the "street lights" don't come on until 9pm and sleeping police men in the road and pitch darkness make a trip hazard. The lights in the showers are similarly on a timer so soap up quick or you'll be jumping out of the cubicle to get the lights back on. Would we stop here again ? Probably as the location is so good i.e. 30 minutes into St Malo but it needs to be better out of season to warrant anything more than a stop off.

Beautiful site

We stayed here recently and really enjoyed our stay. The site is very pleasant, laid out on a hillside with woodland. The facilities are very good, clean with lovely hot showers. There is a pleasant walk down to the river for a walk into Dinan. It is a very peaceful and enjoyable walk. The town is an old medieval town with cobbled streets although it is a very steep climb up to the town centre. It is well worth the walk although it is for tourists. We had a pleasant meal at a restaurant down by the river, there are plenty to choose from both in the town and by the river. The only problem was we couldn’t get on the WiFi but, hey, that’s nothing really. We will certainly returnv

Pleasant, Quiet and Clean.

This site was used by us as a stop over before heading to the Loire region, we arrived on site at the start of September (low season). We were allocated a lower level pitch which due to the high trees behind us meant that we lost the evening sun mid afternoon. If we return we would request a top level pitch. I also noticed some of the pitches were very rocky and not suitable for awnings or tents. There is a very steep path down to the river path (not suitable for people with mobility issues). Once on this path it was a lovely peaceful 10 minute walk to the Port of Dinan. Facilities on site were spotless and the staff very helpful and pleasant. Do make sure you visit the town and port of Dinan. Both are worth spending a day at.

La Hallerais - June 2019

Booked this site for 2 nights, due to the closeness to St Malo and the Ferry and the walk into Dinan. Pleasant welcome, pitch allocated 170, was really small and not particularly level. We needed to use the mover to get the caravan in. While wi-fi is free round the swimming pool, reception etc, we never managed to get logged in and that appeared to be the same for some other people. Toilet / Showers were clean and very roomy, some of the best we have encountered in France. Swimming pool although small was heated. Area where you leave shoes just outside pool could do with a tidy The walk into Dinan, the canal path is accessed down wooden stairs / woodland path direct from the site, a pleasant 20 /25 minute walk will take you to Dinan port, with several restaurants / bars etc. To get into the old town itself you have quite a climb up a cobbled street, very pretty and well worth the effort. Lovely shops and plenty to see in the town. We also visited St Malo Old Town, would recommend using the Park and Ride (signposted blue P&R signs - Parking Paul Feval) Parking and Transfer in and out the town for up to 5 passengers E 3.30, plenty room for motorhomes to park here too. You get dropped off just outside the walls and we had a really pleasant couple of hours, wandering round. The walk round the walks is really pleasant. Lots of seafood restaurants and food was good quality. Never used the bar or mini-market Would return as a stopover to the ferry

Wish we'd stayed longer

Although this was only a stopover for one night on our journey South, we were very impressed with the site and its location. Everything was very clean and pitches a good size and well laid out. Being able to walk into the quay side area of Dinan from the site, through the woods and along the river, was a real bonus. Will stay longer next time.

Great Site however....

Stayed in July for a week, lovely site the staff are all very friendly and speak very good English, the only downside is the wifi you would think in this day and age there would be site wide wifi and not having to go outside reception to obtain access. We ate in the site restaurant and the meal was good value however there are a lot of fly's that bit us. On a positive side its a great site, facilities are spotlessly clean and everything that you need when your away is there.

A great site

Stayed recently for 3 nights. Lovely clean, roomy shower/toilet facilities - one of the best sites on our trip (out of 10 sites). Great location - 20 mins walk along the river into Dinan, 45 mins in the other direction to the last lock before the sea. Slightly odd that the onsite mini market wasn't open when we were there just after the UK late May public holiday/school half term week as the site was practically full with British campers/families.
