Cannot wait to return!

Despite having only spent 3 nights on the site to make a return visit to Puy du Fou we wish we had booked more nights to discover the the area. The pitches were the largest we have ever come across all segregatated with trees and hedges providing much wanted shade. The family run bar/restaurant area was a pleasant area to relax and enjoy a drink at the end of the day. My only criticism would be the small swimming pool and surrounding terrace which tended to get busy at the end of the day when families wanted to cool off after a day out exploring. But apart from that would love to come back next year and explore the area.

A Wonderful Find

What a lovely campsite.  Facilities were excellent and very clean.  Opportunity to hire bikes and canoes from reception.  My teenagers hired bikes which were great for getting around the local area - very flat and quiet roads.  We went for the larger pitch which was probably the best we have had in the 18 months we have been caravanning.  We were at the far end of the campsite from the reception, swimming pool and kids play area so was really quiet all day/evening.  However at about 10.30pm everything was quiet in the campsite.   Swimming pool was excellent and the pitches a mixture of sun and shade with small bushes separating most of the pitches.   A local takeaway (mussels and Chips/Pizza) onsite every couple of evenings.  You can order bread at reception. Local area a real find - take time to get a boat from Coulon to explore the extensive canals in and around the area - these can be self rowed or with a guide. We also took a trip to La Rochelle (40 mins away) which was great.  Don't miss a trip to Niort - lots of interesting local history and some nice restaurants/shopping. A wonderful find and we will be going back.

Very quiet site

We have staxed before and the old static caravans have been replaced by pine lodges the site is welcoming and spotless. There is a pizza van that visits every Wednesday but get your order in quick as they had run out of pizza Base when we tried to order. Too quiet for me the bar only openedo up as the Euros were on but there was still no atmosphere.

A lovely location

We stayed here for a week in the middle of May.  The site is located in the Marais and is set among waterways which are beautiful.  The pitches are large and flat.  The toilet facilities are a bit dated but they are very clean.  Staff were very friendly and helpful.  It is very quiet and peaceful and there are some nice walks and bike rides.

Artists delight

Stayed mid June found it not to busy. Changed pitch allocated and not a problem. Wifi was available in zones and free. Clean showers and toilets, and pool was heated. Bar and restaurant only small and had limited menu which did not change over the week. Area is a artists dream. You can hire canoes which are reasonably priced. Supermarket very near and lots of small villages to visit.Very good cycling and map available at reception.

Delightful surprise

We hadn't planned to stop here but an email to the intended site north of La Rochelle came back with the strange comment that there were no pitches at all this season.  (Perhaps rental pitches only, or undergoing redevelopment?)  Came across this one, a prompt email from Marie confirmed they had a pitch for the five nights requested (we actually stayed for nine).  The only negative points about our stay is in respect of the showers which were very clean, but we detest push-button water controls, and they are unheated which made for quick visits with it being early season.  That said, on the whole, the weather was fine with plenty of sunshine.  We would most definitely use this one again should we be in the area.  The site is a credit to the owners.

France - summer 2015

This was our stop off point down south and back north again during our 3 week tour this summer. The region this site is in is awesome; dozens of small irrigation channels line the fields and interconnect with brooks, streams and the larger river in Coulon. Great for hiring canoes or riding bikes.  The site itself was very well kept with a dated but well maintained shower / toilet block. There are a mix of chalets and touring pitches and while some people had set up camp for a long holiday, others, like us, were only there for a few nights at a time. So, quite a busy site but this was never intrusive and it was fascinating seeing all the different types of touring caravan / tent / camping wagon combinations from all over Europe. The staff were always extremely friendly, polite and helpful even when we had to amend our second booking from the south of France over intermittent emails! A really good site in a very good location.

Worth a visit

We stayed at this site at the end of September. We will definitely return.  Good site - welcoming, friendly staff.  Facilities basic but clean - only criticism was that one day they closed the toilets at 8am for cleaning! Lovely walk/cycle into Coulon. Good bike rides in the area. A real gem

Lovely site

We were booked at this site from the 7th-13th September, however our car broke down and we stayed an extra week. The owners were very helpful and synpathetic, letting us extend our stay and offering to drive us anywhere we needed and translate any phone calls if necessary. The area is very interesting with lots of cycling, canoeing and walking, with the lovely village of Coulon with its canal within easy walking distance. The reception was open all day and Madam speaks good English. We had a beautiful large fully serviced pitch, all pitches are flat and of various sizes, all facilities are very clean and modern and well maintained. There is lots to do in the larger area, super markets are five minutes away. Overal a smashing site we will definitely be returning.

Peaceful and beautiful

Second time we have visited the site.  Well maintained.  Set in a beautiful and less well visited part of France.  Surrounded by waterways with plenty of naturalist visits possible.  Don't miss....
