Great few days

Our Sat. Nav. struggled to locate the site so we ended up asking for directions. We then had a lovely few days stop over at this site. Arrived mid-July and we were able to pick our own pitch. Pitches were large and level with some tree shading. Free Wi-Fi which was great for our teenagers although it was variable. Two Miele domestic washing machines were available at 4 euros per wash-slow wash but actually cleaned our clothes unlike others we have used. There was also a small chest freezer. Bike hire and canoe hire were available plus free table tennis. Toilet blocks were modern-no loo roll in each cubicle just a few main dispensers outside. Showers were the push timer variety. We didn’t use the pool but it looked well maintained and popular. Worth noting there is no shop on site-we arrived late afternoon on the Sunday when the shops are closed-luckily we had food with us as the small restaurant was closed that night also. We visited a Supermarket (Intermarche)+ 6km away. Bread can be ordered the night before onsite. It is around a 15-20 minute flat walk into Coulon to a pretty canal side town, we hired a boat and had a meal in one of the waterside bars although the food was just ok.

Lovely site

We loved this site.  Our pitch was spacious.  The facilities were excellent - disabled loo and shower superb - the only one I've ever come across with separate ladies and gents!! Lovely location convenient for a day trip to La Rochelle.

Good for a short stay

Stayed here for 2 nights in July 2015 having stayed for 5 nights in 2014. New owners this year who are pleasant and helpful. Ideal for a short stay to walk and cycle beside the canal. Coulon is a pretty village nearbye.

Just returned from 5 nights stay, what an excellent site. The new owners have really made a big effort to improve facilities.  Bar and restaurant now open and the food was very good and reasonable.  The pool was heated and clean.  Surrounding countryside excellent for walking, cycling and boating. Good to hire boat and paddle around canals in Coulon.  Very good choice and recommend .  Chris

Gem in great location

Stayed overnight in June 2015 on our way south. Site is immaculate, facilities superb and the location and village of Coulon hard to beat. Situated by waterways, walking and cycle tracks in verdant countryside and just a few minutes walk from the village. Will definitely return for a longer stay in the future.

Welcoming site

Very warm welcome friendly and helpful couple. The lady speaks fluent English and is charming. Generally quiet site. Caravan Club allocated pitches very large and have water drainage and 10 amp electricity. Other pitches on site are small and cramped. Restaurant on site. Good sized swimming pool. Only disappointment was toilet cleaning. Every day around 7.30 to 8.30 cleaning takes place which for most is inconvenient. Cleaning is accomplished by spraying everywhere in showers and toilets with disinfectant solution then hosing down the whole building walls floors sinks and toilets. Floors left dangerously wet and slippery. Took ages to dry and not pleasant. First few days no toilet seats in Gents but then they suddenly were fitted, very strange. Best to go before 7.30 or after 9.00!! Two non commercial washing machines and dryers available. Wifi available near main building and also near swimming pool but is generally slow and variable in quality. Site in a pleasant rural area with both a river and disused canal. Ideal for walking and cycling. Good SuperU for food and fuel about 4 miles. No adjacent eateries or shops.
