Amazing Campsite

We are returning for a fourth time this year as we have always had such a good time at Moulin Du Roch.

We have a caravan and choose to have a pitch at the bottom near the pool overlooking a field (sometimes with and sometimes without some splendid cattle). There is a stream that runs by and we occasionally here the plop of a frog jumping in!

The restaurant is simply fantastic and better than any campsite eatery I've ever been to. The menu might not change much in our three week stay but we go back several times.

The site is run by the most delightful family and their staff are simply excellent - most speaking passable English - often some English staff too. Our children love the always exuberant Pomme, the anamatrice and several other staff have gone out of their way to help us (Katy in particular when we had some trouble with a online theme park booking last summer).

I am always amazed that the loos never have queues and they are always spotless. Its a shame that the chemical toilet waste point is near them and it would be great if there was somewhere else to deposit our waste without having to lift it so high! (My fault for not emptying more often!)

Some reviewers on other sites comment about the road noise.  Yes, it is by a road and yes, there is the occasional lorry. We have a pitch very close and it really isn't an issue. The campsite is wonderfully quiet at night (even if we have been lively in the bar until midnight!)

Internet - this has always been a problem for the site. If people just checked the occasional email and light browsing then the connection shared across the site would be fine (The actual WiFi coverage is excellent) but once streaming video is involved it is very bad. The problem is that France Telecom refuse to install a fibre to the site, so they rely on a Satellite Internet Connection. I recommend that English campers change their phones to Three and use their free roaming offer. Indeed, I brought my own satellite internet connection so I could stream the Ashes last year!

Although there is an excellent TV in the bar, this year we are there during the Olympics and as the time delay from Brazil means most of the exciting stuff will be very late at night, I will be bringing my own TV satellite dish. (Beware, there are lots of trees and it won't work on all pitches).

There are so many wonderful things about this campsite that our children (7 and 9) love it and won't consider anywhere else. They have the Dance of the Summer on constant play in the car. This is a quiet site, perhaps not so much to to for teenagers but we look forward to August once again!
