A Green Oasis

Have just come back after spending 17 nights on this site. Its the best site that we have ever stayed on in France and as far as we have discovered, the only one to actively push for greener camping. The site is planted with flowers and there is a small allotment/herb garden were you are invited to help yourself to small quantities. Indeed, its the only site we have ever stayed on which has a compost facility. Given the Covid situation, we were apprehensive about going, but we need not have worried as the site facilities were kept spotlessly clean and every time I visited them, the Cleaner was present undertaking yet more cleaning. There is a small bar and restaurant on site, and a programme of activities mainly aimed at children - staff are multi-lingual. Be aware, the site deals with its "Poo" by means of a reed bed sewage system, so there are signs in the chemical toilet disposal point asking campers not to use blue but instead use green "Eco" toilet chemicals. If you wish, there are bikes and canoes for hire, but I thought they were a little on the expensive side but I guess insurance comes into the equation. There is a fairly large Intermarche supermarket near Montignac which is adequate for most food and drink needs and it also has a 24 hour filling station. Other large outlets (E.Lerclerc and Carrefour) can be found at Sarlat. I can recommend the Water Gardens at Carsac which were in full bloom when we visited - August 2020 - but wear appropriate footwear as some of the water maze walkway was under water not that it bothered us as it was so hot. We will be back when we next visit the Dordogne.

"Paradise" in the Dordogne Region

Wonderful site. We spent ten nights there in early June. Our second visit and was equally as enjoyable as the first time last year. It is one of the best sites we have ever stayed on in France and is rapidly becoming one of our all time favourites. Lovely pitches set out in cul de sacs individually named after flowers which added to the ambiance of the site. The landscaping & gardening team have created a very pleasant layout throughout and blended the extensive and modern swimming pool complex seamlessly into the overall site layout Two excellent washing/ shower toilet blocks very well maintained - be aware the toilets/ showers are unisex but are spotlessly clean, and cleaned at least twice a day. There is lots going on around the site ranging from the cosy courtyard bar and restaurant, well stocked shop to more strenuous activities including mountain biking and kayaking on the Vezere river which runs by the site. Out and about you are in the heart of the Dordogne region so there is an abundance of things to do and places to visit, not forgetting to mention the food!!!!! - If you haven’t been to this region yet, you don’t know what you have been missing.

Beautiful green and flowery campsite

Stayed for 2 nights early June 2018. Such a beautiful and delightful campsite. Each pitch delineated by hedges and flowers. The whole site has a green emphasis and has been developed by the same Dutch family for the past 50 years from a bare field site. New flowers and hedges are being planted all the time and there is even a fruit, veg and herb patch from which you can help yourself. The sanitary areas were clean and modern (with toilet paper and hairdryers). The swimming area is constantly being developed with an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, a child's pool and water park, a Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, all free to use. 2 shops on site and a lovely restaurant of local food with a happy hour on drinks at 5pm. Good location for Lascaux, Les Eyzies and Roc St Christophe, which can be reached by walking or cycling on a path by the river. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.
