Good for families

Good location, very clean facilities but beware of noise levels during August

We stayed at Camping California 30 yrs ago, returning with our grandchildren we knew from the pictures that it was now completely different so went with an open mind and were particularly looking for pool facilities to keep the kids occupied. Prior to going we requested a pitch slower to the front of the campsite as wife has slight mobility issues, we were pleasantly surprised to find we were placed on a nice sized pitch adjacent to the main toilet and utility block so full marks to the site staff for that. Unfortunately the evening noise was a bit off-putting not only from the animation area which really did pump out ear splitting music (why do they play it so loud ?) on some nights right up to the midnight cut off which was not far from us, try putting a 2yr old to bed with that racket (I know you cannot have everything) Worse was the lack of security patrols with gangs of teenagers shouting , swearing, fighting and smoking standing on the utility block sinks most nights until we had to approach the security guards (who could not speak English) and lead them to disperse these yobs. Yes Yobs. The entrance is a nightmare for a rig, I agree it needs sorting, The facilities in general were spotless with a great pool beware the pictures show a lot of the adjacent campsite pool (L'Oasis). which you can use freely. The larger pool is great but during August the number of male French teenagers bombing into the pool makes it hazardous and you cannot twin there are so many bodies in there. Going at lunch time meant we never went without a sun bed and had it for the afternoon etc, but early morning it is packed and beds are taken early. If you have kids, great place for them especially very young ones, the paddling pool is large, If you are old and wrinkly look elsewhere!! Restaurant on site is small but good food and very friendly staff, a bit steep on drinks but summer season they have to make what they can. Main supermarkets only a mile away on one straight road, excellent for nearby beach and flat for bicycles with good access to beach front riding. Would we go back ? Might do but not adjacent to toilet block again. Victor Meldrews stay away, families will enjoy.
