Excellent site for winter sun

This is a very large site but is beautifully kept and has fantastic facilities.  We stayed here in January; it's the second time we've spent some time here. The site is well signposted from J730 of the AP7 motorway.  The reception staff are very helpful and friendly.  You have to pay a refundable deposit of €10 each for a wristband which you are supposed to wear at all times - but during our stay I didn't see a single person wearing one! The pitches are set in blocks either side of an attractive tree lined boulevard. They are easily accessible and are very large - there was plenty room for our caravan to be sideways on (to face the sun) with our awning and car, and still room to sit out.  The pitches are well marked out but as yet - it being a fairly new site - the hedges around each pitch are very small and there isn't much privacy. There are several large toilet blocks, all heated and very clean, with large showers and ample hot water.  Each block has loads of washing up sinks and a laundry (€4 each for the washer and dryer).  They all have a pétanque pitch and garden/seating area at one end. The entertainment complex is mega, and is set around a large central plaza with fountains etc.  The beautiful outside pool is unfortunately only open for sunbathing during the winter, but there is an indoor pool and lovely spa, a gym, a supermarket, a pharmacy, a hairdresser, a restaurant and the Marjal pub.  There's also an outdoor gym, tennis courts, mini golf, and bike hire. There are many different nationalities on site, and activities and restaurant special meals etc are arranged so that there is something for everyone. For dog lovers there is a large exercise area and a dog washing room in the toilet blocks, and even a dog obstacle training area. A mobile vet visits every week. There is a bit of road noise from the motorway, but in spite of it's size it's quite quiet although it does liven up a bit at weekend when the Spanish arrive as there are many seasonal pitches on site. The only downside of this site is that it's not near anywhere - the nearby town of Catral is a bike ride away (it's not a particularly nice walk) and El Fondo nature reserve is also nice, but apart from that you have to get the car out to go anywhere - although the site itself is so lovely many people just seem to stay on site.  Electricity is not included; we used gas for heating and hot water and used approximately 5kw a day - €1.75 per day - which soon adds up!
