Really good location

This is an excellent location, which loads of walks from the doorstep, and Ainsa is a joy. You will be allocated a site, which tends to be in a busy area, but I found that you can move to a quieter site with better views. The  Spanish tend to congregate together and in family groups, so can be noisy, but out of season you can easily have a quieter pitch. There is an area which has greener grass and higher hedges which is nice with good views..... Other areas have hedges still at the baby stage and look less appealing. Having said this there is direct access to the river side from these which is better with a dog which I have.....and I did not see any dog mess on the site, but plenty just outside....the concept of bagging it does not seem to exist. Great swimming pool and bar area.

Avoid Fiesta weeks!

We stayed on this site for 7 nights this August - coinciding with a Fiesta week (so 3 nights of waking in the early hours to music - half 2/3/4... our mistake) - You can walk to two villages from the site - along the river to Lambuerdo (not much there) and along the cycle track to Ainsa - fabulous town - we also drove there as the 34 degree heat was too much to walk a second day. You can park motorhomes at the castle car park - just turn left in the centre of Ainsa, at the end of the road into Ainsa from the campsite and follow P signs. Lovely restaurant at Nos Rios Hotel - we went for lunch twice, 15 euros each for set menu with a bottle of wine included and lovely food. Campsite very busy with lots of tents and families with young children - very good for family holiday as there was a club, etc. We ordered food from the takeaway twice. First time we ordered calamari - under-cooked but threw it away and did not complain / Paella was bland. Then we ordered roast chicken. Pale and not crispy skin should have been an indicator - it was frozen inside. This came from the same kitchen as serves the restaurant and so I assume that the 'Chef' is called 'microwave' and that the young people serving do not know how to use it - I got a refund. Shop sells good, fresh food and bakes bread on site - I can strongly recommend using the shop. The site allows dogs but does not have rules, so consequently the site is a dog toilet. We woke up one morning, went outside and found a dog had left a 'present' right next to our steps. My husband also cleaned up the mess on the path near our pitch when we found a child playing with it. Although the showers were kept clean with a constant attendant, I have given the cleanliness rating 3 stars because of the dog mess issue. In high season there are LOTS of dogs. So apart from avoiding the takeaway / Fiestas and taking your own dog-poo bags to clean up after other owners, the site is in a super spot! views lovely, good location for walking or driving to interesting places in the national park. Take your own pool seats as there are none around the pool and a limited number in the adjoining field (where you can sunbathe and wander to pool to cool down). Pool facilities good - three pools (one indoor) and even in high season we got to swim - so not too crowded because of facilities being so good. We would go again but not for many days and perhaps not in high season.

Excellent site

We visited for 5 nights mid June. The weather was excellent and scenery beautiful. Site lovely because it was so quiet and we were able to choose our pitch. Good cycle ride into Ainsa via track from campsite...best way to walk too otherwise have to walk along main road. Ideal location to visit gorges of area and fir walking .

Winter / Spring holiday.

Good site, large pitches. Even though it is open all year it really is not fully set up for winter holiday as regards facilities ie, water, office closed during the night. When we were there the shower facilities were just being updated and are now very good but water was supplied from hosepipe as no water was available from site water points until near end of our stay. The Pyranees though was beautiful very good walks, picturesque scenery around every turn.

Paradise in Spain

This site was stunning in its simple beauty and setting It was easy to get to.  The staff were friendly, helpful and introduced people to their pitch with advice on how to get the best out of it.  The pools are fantastic but chilly, the hot tubs great.  In september there was no entertainment but the staff were helpful in sharing their knowledge of the area.  The restaurant was clean, friendly and innovative, reasonably priced and open long hours despite few campers and we ate there several times.  An excellent location for admiring birds, scenery and partaking of many sports with a town within easy walking distance.  We shall be back......soon An Optimistic Caravaner Kent

Mountain Adventure

Absolutely stunning scenery around this camp.no one had mentioned that to get to this camp you would have to drive over the top of the Pyrenees mountains whilst breath-taking views and driving through the clouds passing the quaintest villages that you could hope to find. I must say it takes a toll on the car ,still getting to the site where we found it to be predominantly Spanish and only one other English couple there we parked up in the allocated pitch which was somewhat a touch on the small side but partitioned beautifully with hedges giving full privacy. The staff were friendly and helpful, the toilets were clean as were the showers ,there was only two washing machines which for such a large site was somewhat inadequate with people queuing to get them also at over €6 a little pricey. The restaurant was quite basic really and a little overpriced but with a captive audience they can get away with it.Wi-fi was impossible to get unless standing at bar next to restaurant, loads of things for children to do twice a day holding activity's for them we only stayed a few days but would definitely return

Motorhome stopover

An absolute gem of a site. Great location and great weather! We were not expecting >30 oC but it was smashing! Visited Camping Pena Montanesa in early August 2015 with my wife a 2 daughters (14 and 10).  Stayed in our MH for 6 nights. Upon arrival we were asked if we wanted a 'sun' or 'shadow' pitch by the 'bouncers' on the gate (these were a great bunch of guys who were really friendly) and opted for 'shadow'.  We were escorted down a very narrow tree lined track and it was quite tricky parking the MH up. The pitches were quite tightly packed. The trees may have provided shade but they also provided a barrier to the wind and so it was quite hot and still under them. After a few days we decided to move to one of the sun pitches. There was far more space and manoeuvring in and out of the pitch was far easier.  The view of the Pyrenees was far better and also it was a lot quieter. The facilities were good but one of the shower blocks needs modernising. The pools were great with 3 to choose from and the hot tubs an added bonus. The shop is relatively well stocked but a trip the supermarket in Ainsa provided a better selection of fresh produce. The bar is good for snacks but I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.  We tried it for one meal and were very disappointed - poor quality and overpriced. There are some far better restaurants in Ainsa particularly in the old town. The staff were pretty good and responded well to my efforts to speak in Spanish.  The river Cinco runs past the site and there is a pleasant walk up to Labuerda. On a hot day the river is a great way to cool off.  We did have one day of thunderstorms but we went white water rafting on that day! By reception there is an EKM sports representative to book such things through.  The cycling is great, the Spanish seem to have so much respect for cyclists.  I’d certainly go back to this site.

Great stopover on the way to Spain

Fantastic location, with fantastic views of the Pyrenees. Staff are very friendly and helpful, especially George at the bar/restaurant. Pitches are large, and have a bin between each pitch, emptied daily. Both pools are well looked after, and the jacuzzis are very refreshing. Not sure of the entertainment, as there wasn't any at the beginning of April, and thre ere only 2 or 3 of us staying at the site.
