Desperate to Get Back There

We stayed here in August 2020 (family of 5) and were desperate to get back in 2021 but couldn't because of travel restrictions. We are booked to return in August 2022. The location of this site is perfect. Right on the shores of the lake with great access for Paddle Boarding and Kayaking. The lake water is clean and fresh (it's the drinking water for Rome and private boats with motors are not allowed). The owner runs a friendly and welcoming camp with a great restaurant on site. It's a really peaceful place to be and we've booked a longer stay this time. The toilet / shower facilities are simple and we never had to queue. I'm smiling while thinking about getting back there again in the summer. It's a short trip into Rome for a day trip and the surrounding towns of Bracciano and Anguillara Sabazia are worth a visit too. It's a long drive from Calais but with one or two overnight stops, it's easily achievable and worth the time. I'd recommend travelling through Germany and Austria as the lowest cost route.

Beautifully Italian

I have stayed on this site on many occasions and always fall in love with it all over again. It is very rustic. Toilet blocks are very basic but clean and functional. The restaurant and bar on site are fantastic. Reasonably priced too. The lake is to die for and so warm. This is a peaceful campsite with helpful and very friendly owners. I never want to leave.! As already mentioned the site has good access to local towns and by train to Rome. We will be back!

A peaceful haven near Rome,

Our first impressions here were mixed. One toilet block apparently derelict and few other customers but a lakeside pitch to die for and a laid back relaxed attitude gradually permeated our guarded cynical first assessment. A lake swim first thing followed by breakfast Al fresco was just what was needed. Great little restaurant. Inexpensive and cheerful service. The town of Braciano accessible by a regular bus service initially looked a bit tacky but then it grew on us a soulfully Italian. The train service into Rome from here was ideal but visiting the city in July was overwhelming with the heat and the crowds of tourists. We were relieved to turn to our lakeside site. No entertainment - thank goodness! Utterly therapeutic!
