Motor home wet weather

This story happened on: 28/04/2012

Following heavy rain it was not safe to join booked rally, I cancelled and of course lost deposit.  My vehicle is 3.5 Tons and on grass is likely to upset camp owner and give me a problem getting out. I made that decision after googling the site and reading site reviews. My family were dissapointed as were also the Wardens. Of course you can't predict reasonably the weather weeks ahead when booking. Perhaps a short warning note in the camp site details in the rally book ( grass pitches only) may have forewarned me sufficiently not to have booked, and helped those not on the internet.

You say this was a rally yet you say Wardens were disappointed, I'm confused, was this then a rally on a Club site ? When I used to put together a rally book for a centre all rallies on hard-standing were listed as such but the assumption was that those NOT marked h/s were on grass. If the centre you were rallying with do not do this (and as you have a hefty vehicle) perhaps you could have taken the trouble to enquire before you booked. After all this time of year is notorious for wet weather. I do not think it is very fair of you to expect the centre to treat everyone as though they have an extra heavy vehicle  when all it takes is one phone call (or e-mail) from you to get the information you specifically require.

If it was a Rally, I have suggested, in the disussion forums, that Rally Books should state where hardstanding is available. I know of at least one centre that does this. I think you should have posted this in the Rally section of the discussion forums, it would have had more visibility.
