First Night Away

This story happened on: 19/08/2012

I decided I wanted a caravan and within 1 week I had researched, viewed and selected what I consider to be an excellent purchase. Having booked to see a firewroks competition some montsh ago at Belvior Castile near Grantham, Lincs, we decided that this would be the ideal opportunity to have a trial run. I booked Wagtail Country Park, a CL I think.

We left later than we wanted on the Saturday but got there just after 1pm. I knew what needed to be done as I set the caravan up at home. The one problem I had was I coldn't get the water heater to work. Luckily another family that had just arrived came and had a look, well they husband did. I had forgot to take the vent cover off and the gas won't work without and so thank you to them.

All went very well and packing away this morning was fine.We eachhad a jobs to do and for the most part got on with it. Just as I was about to drive off, the husband of another couple that we had been chatting to the previous evening, "said you better not go yet your jockey wheels still down. As it had somehow been trapped at a funny angle it took us some 10 minutes to sort out with havng to wind down the supports. My son had asked to hitch it up without me intereftering and so I foolishly allowed him to do so without properly checking. Anyhoo, thanks to that gent too.

The one think I took away from our first trip is how neighbourly this all is. There were one or two stuffy people about but luckily the ones behind and to the side were great.

Wagtail Country Park I assume is  fairly small site but the pitch was great with plenty of space and the toilet block very clean. There is a a pleasant walk within the confines of the camp to walk the dog.

The firewroks were great and a grat time was had by all.

Yes I am and we're going to do the lakes for 5 nights with the kids at half-term, end of Oct. I'm not sure whether I will use a CC site as I would like something with a swimming pool and there is so much more out there. We can also do Blackpool for a day trip. Also hoping to  do visit Vendee region of France next summer and some stuff in betweeen.
