Easter at Royal Victoria Country Park with East Sussex Centre

This story happened on: 16/04/2012

At Easter we attended the East Sussex Centre rally at Royal Victoria Country Park at Netley nr Southampton.

We arrived just after noon and were warmly welcomed by the rally officers (the people organizing the weekend) we were handed a nice bunch of daffodils and the information about the activities that they had arranged for the weekend.

At 8pm that evening we were all invited for tea/coffee to meet other ralliers and pay our dues. At this time the Centre Chairman welcomed us all. After which we returned to our vans. Our friends had a problem with the gas valve in their van so we helped them out with dinner etc.

Friday first job off to Towsure to find a regulator for their caravan. No luck with the regulator but we both bought new Cadac Safari Chefs. Towsure were kind enough to ring around for us to find a dealer that had the regulator we needed. Then it was back to the site to fit it. On arrival they RO’s were serving tea/ coffee and hot cross buns. They went down a treat. In the afternoon we enjoyed the sunshine and chatted with lots of friends old and new.

Saturday morning we awoke to a glorious day.  Today the RO’s arranged bacon butties and tea/coffee which set us up nicely, then off out to explore the area.

On Sunday the RO’s arranged a Easter Egg hunt for all the children and delivered Easter Eggs to all the adults. In the afternoon those that wanted to went on an”amble to the Hamble” on our return we were served with tea and cakes. As luck would have it we were fortunate enough to see the MS Balmoral head out on the Titanic commemoration cruise.

On Monday we woke up to steady rain. Flagpole ( this is when we all thank the RO’s for all their hard work) was held and then we all headed off home.

Cost wise we had four nights on a lovely site, numerous teas & coffees, hot cross buns, bacon butties, Easter Eggs and cake. All for the grand sum of £44 including admin and VAT now that’s what you call a bargain.

We joined in everything that had been arranged, but you don’t have to, and no one chases you.

Thank you East Sussex, for a super weekend.
