The Beginning

This story happened on: 01/07/2021

I have had my motorhome for six months now.  I brought it with the proceeds from a legacy from my Dad,(who passed last year) with the aim of me and my rescue spanial having fun times in it visiting places.  Things went a little wrong.  we were on our first trip down to Dover.   We arrived and parked on the sea front.  Got the boy out his tail wagging maddly.  Then he had a fit and a 3 hour drive back home a visit to the vet and he had to be put to sleep as he had a growth in his chest.  So i now travel solo.  I have been on six trips so far.  I am learning all the time about my MoHo.  I have now started a travel journal and a list of places and sites i wish to visit. This keeps my mind occupied.  So if anyone ever see me out and about please come and say hello.  The kettle is always on and a beer stocked fridge at the ready

What a sad start for you but good to hear things are going better and it's nice to keep a journal of your adventures. smile

That’s a very sad start to your touring life SQ. But you have thankfully decided to carry on and make the most of your new purchase. As others have said, keeping a journal is a very nice idea, even better if you can include some photos as well.

Things must be very raw for you at the moment, but there are a lot of kind, dog loving people who post on here, many have gone through the same trauma of losing a beloved companion as you, so if it helps, share your thoughts and post away. Maybe, when the time is right, you will find another little friend to share your holidays with๐Ÿ‘

I generally say hello to anyone close by on a Site, so perhaps we might say hello one day!๐Ÿ˜Š

So sorry to hear you lost your beloved pet while on holiday.

We’re not motorhomers, we prefer towing our 21 year old caravan. We purchased our van for the sole purpose of taking our Westie (also a rescue), on holidays with us. Sadly he to passed away during the first lockdown, we have continued with our caravan but it’s not the same, I miss the long walks I used to take him on and he was so friendly he wanted to say hello to every person and dog he met along the way.

Anyway welcome to the world of touring, we often visit your neck of the woods throughout the year, but our newest favourite site is Abbey Wood. Maybe I’ll see you there one day, I’ll certainly be up for a cuppa of even something stronger if the time is right.
