Why stay here ...

Lydford Caravan and Camping Park is known by its regular visitors for its sense of peace, beauty and tranquillity. The caravan site offers a host of stunning views of the nearby Dartmoor Tors and is set in three main fields divided by attractive hedgerows and trees. You will have a choice of both level and gently sloping pitches, either hardstanding or grass to ensure you have the caravan spot that suits you best.

Within easy reach from the caravan site you will find Lydford village, once a tinners stannary town and steeped in rich local history. Amongst its many attractions are a charming Norman castle and an ancient church which still boasts original ninth century connections. Most famous perhaps is Lydford Gorge, the deepest gorge in the south of England which stretches from the ominously named Devil's Cauldron whirlpool to the dramatic White Lady Waterfall, making for an exciting 3.5 mile circular walk. There are limitless additional walks and cycling routes close to the Lydford Caravan and Camping Park and a number of lovely National Trust properties to explore.

Hidden gem

Lydford Caravan and Camping Park
A lovely site, fantastic location, pretty village, friendly and helpful wardens and immaculately maintained. The gorge is great (though care at the moment as the link walk is closed so more difficult to access if, like me, you walked there). Easy access to Dartmoor. Tavistock and Okehampton lovely market towns. Will definitely return!

Excellent site

Lydford Caravan and Camping Park
This is our fourth visit & certainly won't be our last. Greeted by the very cheery warden Steve & all the wardens are so welcoming & helpful. Lovely quiet location & a really good sized fully serviced pitch. The grass serviced pitch was in such good condition, it felt like a green carpet. Facilities on-site superbly clean & it looks as though further updating has been carried out, although they were really good anyway. Excellent dog walk next to the pitch which was so convenient for our aged Staffie. Easy walk to the pub, although we didn't use it on this occasion. Also wifi signal + tv signal are very good. Would definitely recommend a visit.

5* all the way, one of the best!

Lydford Caravan and Camping Park
We've just come home from a fantastic 3 nights staying at Lydford. Having previously stayed here we knew what to expect but it's got better! Wonderful welcome from the assistant wardens, they could not have been nicer. Had lots of interaction with the main wardens too and again they were brilliant. All 4 of them are a credit to both the campsite and the CAMC. Lovely hardstanding pitch close to everything we needed, water, waste, bins, recycling, etc. Had the sun literally all day, and also had trees at the rear of the pitch for shade so literally perfect. New (to us) facilities block were spotless at all times. The dog walk (even though we no longer have a dog) is stunning, just for the views of Dartmoor alone. Easy walk into the village. Castle Inn is lovely, but was constantly busy when we visited so only had drinks. Also food menu looked expensive! The gorge is a short walk (downhill) from the pub too and worth a visit for the 3 mile riverside walk to the waterfall (even though we'd not had a lot of rain). The Granite Way cycle path runs from the village down into Okehampton with the Pump & Pedal worth a coffee stop on the way. There are buses from the village to both Okehampton and Tavistock although we didn't use them as we just walked and biked all weekend. As this site is only a 45 minute drive from home for us we hope to be regulars! One word sums it up.......PERFECT.

One Of The Best Sites We Have Visited

Lydford Caravan and Camping Park
This has to be one of the best sites we have visited. A terrific welcome and a really friendly team of people. The site is well laid out and looks really attractive, facilities are excellent and very clean. TV reception is great and our phones and 4G router got great signals. Local pubs are close but, food is quite expensive. Supermarkets not too far away in Tavistock.

Bigwig Toy Poodle Reviews

Lydford Caravan and Camping Park
My dog walk around the tent field is beautifully maintained of reasonable length with many poo bins; you can walk into Lydford village and to Gorge. The village pub looked nice but I don't drink so did not enter. The hardstanding pitches are not as well spaced out as at some sites and my owner thought the grass pitches would be our choice next time. There would be a next time. Paws up to the staff on this site.
