Lovely site but……

Putts Corner Club Campsite
The issues start with the welcome. When we arrived the very first time at 12:45pm a few years back we were promptly told we were too early. Trouble is when you drive several hundred miles it is awfully hard to get the perfect arrival time. So this time we arrived at 1:30pm but still got a frosty reception. Female site warden guarding the reception door told me to get back in my car. I still went into the reception as I’d arranged a blue badge disability spot near the toilet block. Another female warden inside reception told me to go back to my car and was simply not interested in anything I had to say. Not the best welcome to the site. The site itself is a little ‘unkempt’ in places especially on the area by the Motorhome waste point. The men’s toilet block had no hand wash from the moment we arrived on Friday until three days later and only after I mentioned it to the warden. Never saw a warden until this point. Finally, a knock on the caravan door mid afternoon on a Sunday trying to flog raffle tickets was a little uncalled for. More so because you felt obliged to buy them. Will we visit again? Yes, most likely but just have to remember not to arrive earlier than 1pm, stay in car for warden to come to us at arrival, take own soap, and no answer the van door when we are trying to have a snooze.

Fantastic Campsite

Putts Corner Club Campsite
We have just returned from a weekend at Putts Corner, we had such a wonderful time. The site wardens were wonderful, cheerful, helpful and nothing too much trouble. The campsite was clean and tidy and the washrooms were immaculate (with heated flooring throughout, perfect). A five minute walk to the Hare and Hounds pub, lovely food, but best to book, does get very busy. Opposite the pub is the bus stop to take you on a 20 minute ride to Sidmouth. Will definitely be returning to this campsite again soon.

Fantastic site

Putts Corner Club Campsite
Our first visit to Putts Corner, lovely friendly staff and would definitely visit again. Easy to find followed the directions recommended by site from Honiton. We were very impressed with all the facilities, toilets and showers clean and warm. The grounds were well kept considering the wet weather we have had. We stayed on hardstanding pitch with Electric Hook up, the pitch was a good size. Great location for exploring, had a carvery at The Hare and Hounds which is a 5 minute walk away.

Third Visit - Still Great

Putts Corner Club Campsite
This was our third visit to this lovely site. We treated ourselves to a serviced pitch, which was great. All of the site was as good as always - perhaps some of the previous comments don't take into account our unusual weather this year, which must make maintenance difficult. Our comments - perfect thanks! We always enjoy our stay; the 9 bus is very useful, as is the footpath through the woods to the pub and bus stop. Dianne and Bernie gave us all that we needed, in a friendly way. My only complaint is that the hill back from Honiton seems to have got steeper than before, when cycling/walking back from the shops - or is it me?

Going downhill fast

Putts Corner Club Campsite

We have been going to putts corner for the past 10 years, sometimes twice a year. This year we decided on a near 3 week stay. The good :- I can honestly say that Diane and co were very friendly and helpful and had zero issues with any site staff. Bear in mind lots of other reviews to the contrary. The facilities were always spotless after being cleaned, unfortunately what members do to them after is beyond belief. If they act like this at home, it must be utterly disgraceful. The Bad:- I have raised this on a number of occasions with the club (silence I hasten to add) the service pitches are extremely tight and small, considering the uplift in prices it really is not good enough. At one point during our stay half of the toilets and showers were closed off, this did result on one morning a queue formed. Quite unacceptable considering others could be available. But another surprise was the fact that only half of the cleaning was required due to shut off, the facilities were still closed for the full allotted time? Other members with dogs, sorry to upset the furry dog brigade but, you are responsible for your dog and their behaviour. Why is there a need to have a dog on a lead so long you have no control over it, why the need to let your dog wander over other pitches whilst on this ridiculous lead. Why the need to allow your dog to foul in any shape on any pitch. There is a dog walk for gods sake, how about using it. Incredibly I actually witnessed somebody open their caravan door, let the dog out on this wander lead, do his business then drag it back in, walk (ha ha ha) over. The ugly:- Can say more than the site is now extemley scruffy. Grass, hedges etc really do need attention. In the middle of the devon countryside do we really need to have such unkempt areas of a holiday site? My own opinion is NO, the no mow May sms to extend into September, I have neve experienced this site in such a state. The club need to take on board we are now paying exorbitant fees in excess of private sites for a lot less and to give us paying members less for more is simply scandalous.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for your review and we are delighted that found the team friendly and helpful. The Site team have actually been in touch as they wanted to address your concerns. They have been working really hard to get Putts Corner looking good and as you can see from the previous review, there's been lots of work carried out by the team to the grass and hedges on the campsite. With regards to any issues or concerns on Club Campsites, please do speak to our site team as they are always happy to hep if they can. They have not seen any dogs on long leads so please report this at the time of your stay so they can help by speaking to members. Many thanks and we hope this helps for future visits.
