Don’t be fooled by the lake photos

Au Clos de la Chaume
Stayed on the site for three nights in September 23. The brochure photo and online video showed a lake on the site description, however it is 15km away. The site itself is very peaceful and the owners are lovely. The facilities were fine ( it is France) and the pitch size was great. We had a serviced pitch. The pool was an added luxury as the weather was hot. The local village was extremely quiet with only one restaurant and a pizza place, there was a supermarket and boulangerie. No bread on site so you have to walk into the village which is about 800m.

very pleasant stay

Au Clos de la Chaume
Stayed for 2 weeks September 23, having stayed previous years for overnight en route decided to stay longer because we have found the site good value. We stayed on the extra large serviced pitch in a caravan, the pitches are massive and very peaceful away from the road and the area of site with small pitches near the facility block and entrance, we find you get what you pay for. The owner is very welcoming and the facilities are clean and tidy. Large supermarkets are a short drive away and the area offers plenty of interesting things to see and visit. No complaints at all, if its a peaceful holiday you want then give it a go, but choose the larger pitches.

September stay

Au Clos de la Chaume
We stayed in Sept '23, no children one dog, en-route to Bavaria. Lovely welcome. We we're given a choice of 3 pitches even though when we walked round afterwards, the site was less than half full. We paid for our dog, but no "extra" facilities provided for him! Eg, dog wash etc. Nice hedging between the pitches for a little privacy. End of season and the pitches were not very green and looked very tired. The site is adjacent to a very noisy road that takes huge articulated trucks to, amongst other places, the very large President Cheese Factory in the town from 4am throughout the day/evening. One dog walk/footpath from the site takes about 5mins to a quiet back road from which you can walk to the village centre. Colmar is worth a visit (1hr away via a very hilly/twisty road with huge juggernauts) but very very touristy. Lovely games room and pool area. No bread delivery! so bakery about 700m walk into town in the morning for croissants & pain. Fully serviced pitches were lovely but a 100m walk for rubbish disposal! Trees provided nice welcome shade on the pitch.

Lovely site

Au Clos de la Chaume
We stayed at the site for 4 nights August 2023 in our motor home. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely large pitch with partial shade which was much appreciated. Facilities were very clean and well maintained. The site is in a lovely location with walking and biking direct from the site and also lovely places to visit within easy driving distance.

Off the beaten track in the Vosges Mountains

Au Clos de la Chaume
Arrived after a 5 hour drive to a warm welcome. A small typically rustic French site with smallish pitches the majority of which were under partial shade of the many trees at different times during the day. We had one with both water connection and drainage. Good toilet and shower facilities (unisex) which were very clean. A number of static vans/ cabins and safari tents around the site. Quite surprised to find some all male groups using the site, many of whom were motorcyclists but they didn’t cause any problem. It it was a French bank holiday weekend and we arrived on a Saturday afternoon and the site was full. However Sunday came and by midday we were one of probably only a dozen or so units left on site, making it a very tranquil and peaceful stay. Other than covered swimming pool and play area there are no other facilities ( may be all you require) although there were some short walks leading directly from the site. No bar or shop although reception did sell ice creams and some savoury snacks. However a comfortable 10 minute walk into town there is a traditional ‘boulangerie’ selling croissants, bread and delicious cakes and some other shops. Small market on a Monday mornings. Our trips out took us to Kayserberg a nice traditional village well worth a visit in the Vosges Mountains and the lakeside village of Gerardmer with nice walk around the lake or boat hire if you preferred. It also doubles up as a ski resort in the winter months. An update on the directions. From St Die de Vosges. Now cross over 4 roundabouts before bearing right towards Gerardmer and Corcieux as the road has been altered following the opening of a new Aldi and Super-U in Anould
