Walk from the caravan site into the delightful Breamish Valley where many remains from the Neolithic and Bronze Age, including hill forts and medieval villages can be seen. It is an easy walk into the quaint little village of Powburn.

The National Park Centre at Ingram is a short journey away from the River Breamish Club Campsite, which is open daily from Easter to September. Staff there will be more than happy to help you plan your stay, making sure you get the most out of this historic area. Ingram boasts a number of fine hillside walks - take a picnic along with you and enjoy the rolling green hills and countryside spread out before you. If you enjoy bird watching and nature, then be sure to visit the Branton Nature Reserve which has a bird hide and lake nearby and Farne Islands, off the Northumberland coast. Fly fishing is available at Chatton and Thrunton Long Crag, and course fishing can be enjoyed at Felton Fence Farm.

The stunning surrounding scenery and beaches can be enjoyed from many of our Northumberland campsites, including the long sandy beaches and castle at Bamburgh, are on the doorstep. The location for the Harry Potter films, Alnwick Castle, is a must-see attraction. For a really unique experience, book a reservation to have dinner in the Castle's treetop restaurant. This caravan park is sure to offer something special for everyone in the family.

Great site.

River Breamish Club Campsite
Been here before a few years ago, spent 5 nights here this time. Very happy with River Breamish overall, great chip van on Monday night, good size portion for the price. Everything all good,we had a great choice of pitches as it was early October. Nice hot showers and heated toilet block. WiFi was handy too.

Lovely site

River Breamish Club Campsite
Lovely site. Staff really friendly and helpful. Not quite full but plenty of space between units. Very quiet. Tidy and well kept. Super dog walk through woods around a pond but a longer one near the campsite at Branton Ponds. Toilets are warm and very clean. Absolutely perfect! Not a lot of choice to eat out nearby which is fine for us.

First time to Northumberland

River Breamish Club Campsite
I booked this site as a solo Campervanner with dogs, as being well placed to visit some of the highlights of Northumberland, including walking opportunities for the dogs. My stay was for 5 nights (originally 6 until Storm Agnes got in the way). Have to say I wasn’t disappointed at all with my choice, apart from needing longer to see what Northumberland has to offer. Arrival was easy, relaxed and very friendly and welcoming from Jo. Unfortunately, the following day her and hubby were on holiday. However, unlike a previous reviewer, I have nothing but praise for Kath (spelt with a K) and Rob - friendly, chatty, great advice on many aspects of exploring the area. Well done both, keep on doing what you are doing. The site is layed out with small areas of pitches around a circular road around the site. I felt it actually gave a friendly atmosphere. So much to see and explore - Bamburgh (stunning), Seahouses (a vibrant small seaside village), Cragside (outstanding) and so on. Back on the main road you will find a Petrol Station (reasonable priced fuel) plus an included Londis small supermarket which has a remarkable amount of stock considering where it is located. On Kaths recommendation I took advantage of the visiting fish & chip van on Monday evening. Absolutely outstanding fish & chips. Being on my own now what I hate is the humongous pieces of battered fish some places serve up - it’s wasteful. However, this fish & chip Van served up a perfect size along with the right amount of chips. 10 out of 10. You won’t be disappointed. Northumberland is a stunning county in many respects and I look forward to another visit next year to continue my exploring of the county.

Great location

River Breamish Club Campsite
We stayed here for 9 nights from 5/9/23. Our first impression was fab location spoiled by initial contact with relief wardens Roy and Cath. Roy ordered us to stay in the car, then as we pulled forward to the head of the queue he commanded that only one of us should book in. My husband did so and was given a prolonged lecture on the 5mph speed limit. We have been members of the CC for 27 years and have never ever been subjected to such an unfriendly and dictatorial greeting. On day 2 we were getting ready to go out when Cath barked at me asking was it our airer sited behind the caravan, one leg on the hard stand and 2 legs 10" onto the 1m grass betwixt rear of pitch and hedge. I said it was and she told me to get it moved off the grass. Very rarely throughout my 70 years have I ever been spoken to in such an aggressive manner and never by CC wardens. We may have got it wrong but there are more pleasant & professional ways to be reprimanded. All I can say is thank goodness the permanent wardens Jo & Craig returned from holidays, the atmosphere changed totally. They were extremely hard working and never without a smile and friendly greeting when passing by. They were a delight and made the end of our stay a pleasurable experience. Had the relief wardens been there for our entire stay I would have awarded the site only 1 star!!

A perfect site, in a perfect position, with perfect site managers.

River Breamish Club Campsite
A perfect site, in a perfect position, with perfect site managers. With the exception of 2020 (lockdown) I have visited every year since 2010, often twice such as in 2023. There is nothing to add to my first sentence. And nothing I could say that I haven't said before. I hope it may be more helpful if I focus on cycling from the site. (I'll cover running – or walking – in a later review following another visit next spring.) I'll restrict myself to two road cycling routes I cycled during a recent four night stay. I've cycled both previously – they are worth repeating. The first is 25 miles, all on road, the route for which can be found here: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/26147143 . This isn't without climbs and parts are quite exposed to wind but the roads are quiet and there is noting too testing. For a longer route (47 miles), with approx 1.2 miles offroad at mile 29, see: https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/48238945 . This longer route has everything and is one of my favourites anywhere. The short offroad section can easily be avoided if wished - at a T-junction on a bend when entering Doddington (a little north of Wooler) the route turns right. Instead turn left. (The route as downloaded shows a left turn and then a turn around but ignore the turnaround.) This short lane leads to the B6525 where turn right towards Wooler. Taking the second on the left immediately returns to the garmin route. Allow plenty of time to enjoy this brilliant ride. Just two suggestions which I hope someone may find helpful.
