A good park but too isolated for us

Pembrey Country Park Club Campsite
We’ve just returned from a short stay in the run up to Easter. On balance we had a good time here. It’s easy to access and the roads aren’t bad at all when towing. The park is very well kept and the facilities are well looked after. The park borders onto a large country park which leads down onto the huge Cefn Sidan beach where you can literally walk for miles and miles. The pitch was good sized and well spaced and the new approach to the layout of caravan / awning / car worked well for us. We did have some overhanging trees which given the time of year didn’t cause an issue but I’d worry a bit about the roof of the van when the branches would be in full leaf. Despite all the positives of the park and its staff the location was more than a little ‘isolated’ for us. The local towns of Burry Port and Kidwelly have very little to offer which means you have to travel to either Swansea, Gower or further into the main holiday spots of Tenby / Saundersfoot. Each of the these locations at about an hour away by car. The local area doesn’t have any real amenities either. The nearest shop I believe is 3 miles away and there isn’t a pub in sight either! Sadly the weather had been horrendous in the run up to our stay so part of the park was flooded for most of the time we were there. Totally beyond the control of the club and, of course, the park staff. In summary a good stay on a well kept park. If you’re looking for a walking and cycling holiday and enjoy getting away from it all then this will probably suit you down to the ground. If you prefer a bit more ‘local life’ then you’ll really, really struggle at Pembrey.

This site always gives 100%

Pembrey Country Park Club Campsite
Third stay of 14 plus days and still blown away and this despite appalling weather. Easy to get to, great pitches , facilities and it's location all make this site worth the 160 mile trip from Newbury. The access to miles of traffic free tarmac cycle tracks makes this a perfect site for all levels of cyclist and the park is always hosting events for something to see. The biggest draw is the location close to the beaches of the Loughor estuary and the views across to the Gower peninsula. This site is a hidden gem and well worth discovering. And We mustn't forget to mention the people who do a great job of looking after the site so well. Thank you for another great stay and see you again soon.

Yearly visits

Pembrey Country Park Club Campsite
Have stayed on this site nearly every fireworks night and New years for 10 years now. Started with a caravan but have now swapped to a motorhome. The site is great for walking beach stays or just relaxing. Wardens have as all club sites always been friendly and helpful. Just one thing have noticed about most clubsites is that they only have ONE motorhome service point. which when it takes 20 to 30 mins to fill tank this surely would cause a queue for the service point during busy times of the year. Just observation as we usually go for the smaller CL sites during busy times.

What a lovely site!

Pembrey Country Park Club Campsite
We had heard of Pembrey Country Park but had not been previously aware of a club site there. Having found it we booked a few nights and what a lovely stay we had! The site is pristine and the Wardens very friendly. As some have said the toilet blocks are a little dated but they are spotlessly clean and warm so we had no complaints. There is a dog walk around one side of the site but given the location there are ample dog walks available. The site is situated on the edge of the country park which has miles of tracks and trails for walking and cycling. A 20 minute walk will take you to the most fabulous beach which I understand is 8 miles long so plenty of room for everyone! There are lovely views of Gower and Worms Head from the beach. The park also has a dry ski slope with a cafe and there is a park run caravan site which has its own licensed cafe which is open to anyone. It was peaceful during our stay but I would imagine it would be very busy during peak times / school holidays as it’s a great place for families. The only small complaint we had was the lack of lighting around the perimeter of the site at night, particularly at the service point where it was extremely dark. I did mention this to a Warden who said they would look into it. A minor issue which didn’t spoil our stay and we will most definitely return.

A brilliant location - 20 mins to llanelli and/or a short stroll to the beach which is fantastic with so many activities. The site, facilities and staff are up to CAMC standards and I look forward to coming back,
