great views

The Orchard
Greta sit and had a lovely stay , John and Grace very welcoming , Facilities are cleaned regularly and are very clean shame that the shower is no longer available ,wouldn't mind paying a bit extra as site is a bargain at £20 with hookup water and gray waste on each pitch. Sunset from the site is spectacular and it is very peaceful will be returning next year .

First Class CL

The Orchard
This CL has level, hard standing pitches, each with hook up, waste disposal and water tap. There is also a very clean and spacious toilet block. There is also a waste point for motor caravans. As such it represents excellent value for money compared with other adjacent commercial sites. The situation is quiet, with elevated views over Cardigan Bay. You can walk to the long very tidal beach, by courtesy of the large commercial site opposite, and on the other side of the road and railway line between Barmouth and Harlech. All in all a very well run CL with enough interest locally for a 3 or 4 night stay.

Stayed for one night in June 2022 a site will kept but be aware the site directory states shared shower this no longer the case as it is not available. The steep hill leading up to the site could be a problem if your have any mobility issues.

Spectacular scenery

The Orchard
Access to the site from the A496 coast road is straightforward, albeit up a steep driveway. However, before that the route takes you through Barmouth with its roads of varying widths, parked delivery vehicles, low stone walls & holidaymakers who aren't always aware of what's going on around them - not for the faint-hearted! Pitches are sloping & we needed blocks under our jockey wheel to level ourselves up, but once you're all sorted the views of Cardigan Bay to the front & the hills behind make it all worthwhile. And if you're lucky enough to get a good sunset (we had to wait until night 7 of 8) then caravanning doesn't get much better. We were lucky enough to be allocated pitch 5, which is set apart from the other four & has the most space and a view of the sea from your front window. Grace & John are very friendly hosts & the site is well maintained. Since the photos on CAMC website were taken they have extended the access road up between pitches 1-4 & 5. Just a couple of points to bear in mind - although each pitch has its own tap, there is no individual grey waste drain. Grey & chemical waste disposal are both located up a grassy slope at the back of the site, which can be a bit of an effort if you are wheeling a full container on wet grass. Buses run along the main road, although they don't run very frequently after early afternoon & the one morning that we waited for one to go into Barmouth it didn't turn up, so we walked. On another day we caught the train from Barmouth to Aberdovey, which is a lovely scenic route. We would recommend Norbar for food, just make sure you book in advance as even in the second week of September we struggled to get a table for dinner when booking a few days in advance.

Loved it

The Orchard
A nice warm welcome from John. Lovely CL with brilliant views over the bay. Nice long walk into Barmouth, which was very nice indeed. £6 back in a taxi if you don't fancy the walk back. Just couldn't fault the site. We will be back!
