Aviva’s Tour of Britain, British cycling’s premier cycling event, is returning to UK roads for its 12th year on 6 - 13 September 2015.
Sports fans can get involved by supporting the riders up and down the country or even join in with the action on their own two wheels.The Caravan Club has teamed up with Sustrans to develop 35 picturesque cycling routes, the majority of which are located within just a mile of a Caravan Club Site.
Whether a budding Chris Frome or cheering from the side lines is preferred, The Caravan Club offers sites across the country for those keen to get in the Tour of Britain action:
Berwick Seaview Caravan Club Site – the 4th leg of the Tour of Britain passes close to Berwick-upon-Tweed where this caravan site sits in the spectacular Northumberland countryside. The nearby Berwick Seaview cycle route is generally flat but can be challenging in places, running along coastal paths it boasts beautiful views and there are plenty of places to stop and take in the scenery. A caravan pitch at Berwick Seaview Caravan Club Site starts from £7.20 per pitch, plus £6.30 per adult and £1.90 per child per day.
Carsington Water Caravan Club Site – located in Derbyshire, this site is perfect for cheering on riders on the 6th leg of the Tour of Britain which runs from Stoke-on-Trent to Nottingham. This is one of the toughest and most exciting stages for the peloton and spectators as it includes several gruelling, famous climbs in the Peak District National Park. The campsite is nestled within a pine plantation and is as a fantastic base for cyclists who are keen to explore the beautiful scenery of Dovedale and the surrounding countryside. A caravan pitch at Carsington Water Caravan Club Site starts from £7.10 per pitch, plus £6.80 per adult and £2.00 per child per day.
Thetford Forest Caravan Club Site – perfectly situated for catching the 7th leg of the Aviva Tour of Britain which is the penultimate and longest leg of the race. Cheer on the riders as they are put through their paces in the lead up to the finale. The campsite is set in picturesque Forestry Commission woodland and offers a quiet and secluded base from which to explore the natural charms of the surrounding area and catch a glimpse of the local wildlife. A caravan pitch at Thetford Forest Caravan Club Site starts from £5.20 per pitch, plus £4.10 per adult and £1.10 per child per day.
