Why stay here ...

Beautifully located on the banks of the River Loue, this site offers a pleasant, family-focused stay in a relatively unknown corner of France. High season is busy, with plenty to do including fishing, kayaking and swimming. The shallows of the gently flowing river provide a relatively safe place for children to bathe.

Fresh bread and pastries from the village bakery are delivered to the site each morning, and the onsite restaurant, which serves family favourites, has a lovely terrace overlooking the river.

Being near the foothills of the Jura mountains, there are some excellent walking and cycling routes around and about. It’s also possible to arrange wine and cheese tastings through reception. The protected town of Besançon is great to explore, with its Roman architecture, art museum and UNESCO-listed citadel.

Dangerous

Huttopia La Plage Blanche
We visited the site in August 2017 for 4 nights. The site was poorly kept and very dirty, complete neglect, there were leaves on the ground from the previous year that had never been removed and hedges that had not been groomed, we could of course live with this. However, we were presented with a pitch that had a nest of wasps under the caravan(due to leaves remaining). We were moved to another pitch and we were told that they have a big problem with wasps this year (due to no cleaning I should think) The next pitch was 60m from the electric point, so I had to drape my electric lead over the road, by the end of the stay it was ripped to shreds. The electric/lighting points were held together with tape and most of the plastic bulb covers were full of water. The smell of raw sewage was a little off putting, ok, it was the height of the season and busy, but the leakage from cess pits onto paths as they were so full was a little off putting, thank goodness we were not pitched next to that. So caravan club, how can you possible give this site your safe approval due to electric and sewage issues. I have several pictures to prove this, alas we cant upload to the site. I urge you not to visit this site.

Lovely peaceful site

Huttopia La Plage Blanche
We stayed here for the second time having visited the site before in 2012. The site has been taken over by the Huttopia group which has meant there has been a great deal of investment in the site particularly the facilities. The toilet blocks have been upgraded, not sure how many there are but at least 4 I would guess. They were kept very clean, I spotted staff cleaning them about 3 times a day. The block we used had both showers and toilets indoors. The washing up sinks were more exposed but the roof was adequate. The new restaurant has been standardised to meet all Huttopia campsites i.e. For families with just pizza and burgers. We did eat there on the very first night it was open and it was fine. We had booked a riverside pitch which is more expensive but worth it! It was fairly quiet when we were there and it was very peaceful probably because being early July it was before the peak holiday season. I would definitely stay here again, Huttopia seem to have made a very positive impact on the site. I must also add how very friendly and helpful the young staff were as well!

Lovely site - shame about the fly infestation

Huttopia La Plage Blanche
A friendly welcoming site, with big pitches, spoilt by constant swarming flies.   In my view, the fly problem will be a constant issue during the summer months as the site is located next to a farm. The site river has gently sloping sides making it assessable to swim in. The site is long and sprawling. The pool area seemed to be clean The reception has a stock of essential items with a fresh bread delivered each morning, accompanied by the massing flies. The restaurant had a lovely terrace that overlooked the river but we didn't use it due to the flies. I would not recommend this site for the reasons stated above.

Not for us

Huttopia La Plage Blanche
Arrived here in August for a 2 night stop on route to the French Alps. Site very full, as expected, but also extremely noisy. Restaurant was OK but there were a lot of flies and the WiFi was very slow and kept dropping out. Pitches are delimited by hedges and trees but people still use your pitch as a thoroughfare to reach the toilet blocks and washing up areas. Washing up areas are in the open just under a roof which is OK but toilets and showers etc are similar design with just a door to separate you from the outside world. As an additional point, no toilet seats are fitted and the toilets are low, so not only is it cold and uncomfortable, it can be difficult to get off as well. Toilet blocks in the accepted sense they are not and there are only two for the complete site. Fine in summer but I would think pretty cold in spring or autumn, and they could be a long walk anyway. Its also a long walk to the entrance to the rubbish bins and again another long walk to the motor home service point to empty your toilet. All in all it was OK for two nights en route, but we won't be using this site again.
