Why stay here ...

This busy city site with good facilities is set on the banks of the River Seine and provides a practical base to return to after a busy day's sightseeing in Paris. The friendly, multilingual reception staff offer a warm welcome and a shop stocks basic provisions. There's a bar and restaurant available, although amenities for children are limited. Pitches are of a good size and separated by hedges, with some overlooking the unfenced river. Please note that those with large units should note that access roads are narrow and there is noise from the trains on site.

The RER is within walking distance and provides frequent trains to the city taking just 25 minutes, so you can explore all the major attractions, from the Louvre to the Champs-Elysées. The same line also goes to Disneyland while Versailles is a short drive.

Disappointing.

Maisons Laffitte

I really think the Caravan Club should re inspect this site. Fortunately we are on one of the better pitches of which there aren’t many. The noise from the railway line is constant and very loud. Quite a few pitches are very very small, unkempt and full of holes. There’s quite a few statics, also quite scruffy looking. On the plus side, it’s ideal for Paris and Versailles but the approach road is not for the faint hearted having to come through residential streets. We were also very unfortunate to be pitched next to a long term visitor who’s friends happened to work and reside on the site, not having any respect for other campers whatsoever, letter hers and her friends dogs run riot around our pitch.

Response from the Club:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Maisons Lafitte is a city site which is used for its excellent location and because of this the access road is quite tight through a residential area and there is train noise that can be heard from the site.

There are adequate facilities on site including a restaurant, swimming pool and shop but this is not a site that we are recommending for long stays but a safe overnight site for visiting Paris.

The check in times for all sites are available from the Club and they do vary from site to site, so please check this before arriving on site. If you have any problems on site, please do report this to the reception staff as they are not able to resolve issues they are not aware of.

Not For The Faint Hearted

Maisons Laffitte
Our visit here coincided with the Dutch Easter holidays at the start of May and so was very busy. When we arrived we thought we had come to Benidorm with loud music coming from the bar area and people flocking around the pool area. We were sited on a very narrow pitch with high hedges, backing on the large communal play area just in front of the bar. Not for us and so we asked to move. They had one pitch available which was a rugby pitch length from the main train line into Paris so lots of noise. But we took it as even this was an improvement. Pitches are tight, especially for a twin axle caravan, and quite rutted. They are also very close together. No 6m rule here! It was very hard to find a water tap and ended up filling the aquaroll from the washing up taps. The positive is the ease of getting into Paris and all the delights on offer. We needed to use the train for a variety of reasons and so in that respect the site served its purpose. But if you are looking for a relaxing holiday, then I advise you look somewhere else.

Great site for visiting Paris - but has major drawbacks in the way it's run

Maisons Laffitte
This is a city site in a built-up area with all the disadvantages that entails. It's not quiet or peaceful, you can hear trains rumbling across the nearby railway bridge over the Seine from very early in the morning until late at night. But having said that, for a city site, I thought it was alright. The pool area is nice and was open at Easter 2019 - we had amazing warm weather and had to go out and buy swimming trunks (yes, in common with pretty much everywhere else in France us guys have to wear trunks, not shorts). There's a big Carrefour across the other side of the river, about 3 miles away. The san facs were good too, but see below... There's a good site shop where bread / croissants etc can be ordered. You have to wear a bracelet to use the pool etc. Location is perfect for visiting Paris and all its sights and delights - about a 15 minute walk to the station from where it's 25 minutes or so to Etoile-Charles de Gaulle station for the Arc De Triomphe. As others have said the access roads are not brilliant - through residential areas but we had no problem either arriving or departing. BUT... the way the site is run is appalling. We arrived at 1.00 p.m. Reception had just closed for lunch, so nothing doing until 2.00 p.m. At 2.00 p.m. I duly returned to reception - you can't check in until 3.00 p.m. Why not? Because you can't. So 2 receptionists sat there talking and doing nothing for an hour. I returned to reception yet again at 3.00 p.m. By this time there was a queue of about 10 people also waiting to check in - I waited another 45 minutes to be seen by the one receptionist. The other one had cleared off somewhere else at the busiest time. Eventually after THREE HOURS of waiting, we were allocated a pitch... and we had a reservation. If you turn up here without a reservation, you get left till last. Secondly, the sanitary facilities were regularly closed for cleaning at 9.00 a.m. Call me lazy if you like, but I sometimes like to get up and have a shower a bit later on holiday than I do at home! In fact a lot of people seemed to be wanting to use the shower blocks at 9.00 a.m. but no can do. Why? Because that's when the staff want to clean them, apparently not realising that's pretty much peak time on a campsite where people are on holiday. The san facs are mixed too which might be a problem for some people. The pitches are not as smooth as we are used to from club sites in the UK and some looked pretty badly rutted. There was a distinct lack of taps too - only managed to find one that worked on a pitch that was unoccupied, not sure what we would have done if it had been busy. I would use this site again, if only because of its convenience factor but Sendaya seriously need to sort out some of the management issues which were incredibly irritating.

Paris stopover for visit to Euro disney

Maisons Laffitte
Chose this site as we wanted site close to Rail Station. Finding site was challenging both on Motorway and in final approach. Beware there is a tunnel with very low headroom which you need to avoid in MH. Approach roads narrow but safe. Site is very busy with new swimming pool and busy bar/restaurant. Men not allowed swimming shorts and must wear close fitting trunks/speedos. Booked Disney tickets via site reception this is done by internet and you could do yourself. Had to be done day before and only one day pass available 63 euros one park one day. Rail system is complex but good once you work it out. With help from Booking office we got an all zone 1-5 weekly ticket for 22 euros which is great value and half price of 3 day visitors pass. You need to get passport photo but there is machine in station. Disney is 1.5 hours changing at La Defense station. Trains are clean and frequent. just over an hour and half to Disney. Got train to Versailles beware on Tuesdays and at weekends you may have to queue for 2 hours to get in. Tickets available campsite for 18 euros. Local town is friendly with nice bars restaurant and small supermarkets. We would use again.

Disappointing, would not recommend.

Maisons Laffitte
Masions lafittee is operated by Sandaya who advertise this as four star site but I would doubt this has been reviewed in recent times. Masions Lafitte failed to deliver on the expectations as presented on their web site. When we stayed (June 2018) there was a lot of building work on site (new Aqua Park) which made access to the toilet block difficult. We had to circumnavigate building materials that blocked the access to the toilet block. The toilet block itself was very good being new and clean and recently opened, after refurbishment, plenty of hot water and cleaned twice a day. Our pitch was very poor, uneven, and potholed. When we request to move to another pitch we were offered the next site along but the grass was long and had not been cut for some time with a tree growing in the center of the pitch. As an alternative they offered, at a premium, a site overlooking the river but the river view was obscured by trees and dense foliage. Be aware that I could only find 5 available pitches that had a clear unobstructed view of the river. This site has a lot of residential holiday cabins which were very noisy and some quite raucous during the weekends. I would not like to be on site during the peak season. I expect that this will eventually be turned into a holiday camp style facility similar to the others within the Sandaya chain. Positives easily walk into Masions Lafitte which is a delightful friendly French town with an excellent tourist information office and supermarket (Casino). The train station gives easy access to Paris bringing you into the Champs - Elysees but use the RER network. Be aware that the access to the site is through residential areas which are narrow. Care should be taken as the residents tend to whizz about these streets and around corners. The street parking is marked for the residents to park their cars alternately on each side of the road to allow vehicle access along the street. I required to exit the site to access the N184 and then A16 to the west towards Abbyville. The route I used was to exit the site and stay on the Rue Johnson towards the traffic lights (the top half of this road is one way). Turn left onto D157 Avenue de Sant-Germain. Stay on the D157 until you enter Le Mesnil –le Roy. At the traffic lights with shops on the left and a large vetnary center on your right. Turn right into a one way system with a wide road. Follow this road which will bring you on to the D308 which joins onto the N184 in about two miles.
