Why stay here ...

Family-owned and open all year, this site is surrounded by a natural park and less than 1 mile from the beach. The friendly reception staff provide a cheerful welcome, and flower beds add splashes of colour around reception and the main facilities. Pitches are level and gravel based, with most being separated by hedges.

In low season it’s a calm and peaceful escape from the bustling coastal resorts, while in the summer it caters more to families, with a pool, bouncy castle and activity programme for children, as well as some evening entertainment.

A car or bikes are recommended for visiting the coast as parking areas restrict vehicle height. The beach at Villeneuve Loubet Plage is a ten-minute walk, and there are some lovely cycle routes passing through a nature park. Buses run to the local railway station, which provides access to many towns, while Antibes is 4km away and has some interesting museums.

OK before or after high season

Using a satnav this was an easy site to find. Pleasant welcome and then shown to our pitch. The site initially appeared quite cramped but in reality its not too bad. Some pitches are a bit small others are more than adequate with mains and electric on pitch (the water works off a high pressure system so needs the right connector !! Pushes male into female). We had a car and caravan but some larger campervans might struggle or get a thin elongated pitch. The on camp bar cum snack bar cum evening restaurant is a plus factor and, although offering a very limited menu, the food (pizzas or steaks) were surprisingly good. and the atmosphere created enhanced the place. Generally the site was peaceful though the airport at Nice isn't too far away and the camp suffers noise, especially the engine roar during take off, which was a shame. Toilets and showers adequate bit tired but clean, likewise the toilets. During our stay the pool (no lifeguard) never had the roof opened, which was strange given the high temperatures. Hence inside got very stuffy and uncomfortable. One big let down was the beach, which appears very close (at the bottom of the road in fact) however the main rail line prevents direct access. Consequently its a case of turn left and follow road for a couple of miles until there's a pedestrian underpass OR turn right where its half the distance and the underpass will allow a vehicle. The beach itself is uninviting and stony but parking is easy. However go to the west of Antibes (5 miles) and there is a very nice sandy beach, though beware after June 1st, its 17 euros a day to park !!! (Seventeen). Antibes is well worth a visit very charming with plenty of places to eat and plenty of parking in the evening. Nice is close by likewise Monaco and Cannes but, as with most of the area, there's a lot of traffic, hence queues. However all can be reached via the rail station near the aforementioned underpasses. The area the camp is sited in Villeneuve Loubet Plage which isn't a particularly nice area, a bit of a poor relative to Nice and Antibes. Its more industrial and the roadside walks aren't particularly nice. However there is a decent supermarket and several good bakers. Overall not a bad place to spend a week out of season but not sure I would want to stay when high season arrives.

Good location for Antibes.

Site very clos to Antibes. Big supermarket close to site. Toilets and showers for mixed sexes but not a problem, clean and tidy. Lovely big shaded pitch, stayed in middle August, temp up to 40oC. Pool was a godsend but warned no pool attendants, children had to be accompanied by parents. Could not park motorhome anywhere other than the sites we stayed in, along the south Coast of France, told the police would tow us away and car parks all had restricted height bars. Had to use public transport, which ran close to sight or taxi which was quite expensive. Would stay again and try to hire a car for our stay.

Safety

The site is clean and tidy with the pitches clearly designated. The showers were very clean and there was plenty of hot water. I only had to wait once for a shower and that was only a few minutes. The toilets were very clean and there was always toilet paper available.  There were limited items available in the shop and, in the heat, the very good super market was quite a walk away.  The pizza restaurant, was good even if a bit limited.  The only real concern I had was the total lack of safety in the pool. On one occasion the pool attendant spent the entire time I was there playing with two teenagers with a small rugby ball they were throwing in a 'goal' under the chair next to him and doing a running commentary as if it was really a game, totally ignoring the other users of the pool. We had been told no balls were allowed but this was clearly not the case. On another occasion the same teenagers ( a boy and a girl) came in and the boy very aggressively pushed his sister into the pool and when the female pool attendant came over to remonstrate he attempted to push her in the pool and after a bit of tomfoolery, he succeeded. Considering her job was too watch the pool this was clearly not safe and he really should have been banned but it was clear that these teens were well known to the pool attendants and they had no idea of discipline. If someone had been in difficulties I doubt very much if either of the pool attendants would have been able to see in time. I was also concerned how many youngsters were allowed in the pool when they clearly could not swim.

It's nice in Nice.

Great friendly site, located in a good place. Good access for transport links, or for great cycling to Antibes or surrounding seaside towns. Beach just a 10 minute cycle away. Loved it.

2016 Stay

We stayed in Vielle Ferme last year also and loved it. The site is convenient to all that you would require for a great stay in the Antibes area, beach, the town, supermarket are all close by which means we can use our bikes all the time, as the traffic is horrendous all day long. The site is quiet, spotlessly clean and compact with a great pool and good security. We would not consider any other site in this area. We look forward to going back, hopefully next year for even longer.
