August 2017

Le Vaugrais
My wife and I stayed at this site for four nights in August 2017. It is a small and charming site and the owners are very keen to please and with my pigeon French and their pigeon English, we managed to understand each other. The pitches were a reasonable size and wifi was free for thirty minutes a day close to reception. The toilet and shower blocks were clean and the on site eatery, though limited in its menu, was adequate for our needs. Good walks nearby and our dog enjoyed himself. A bit off the beaten track but worth a visit.

Lovely site

Le Vaugrais
This was our first visit to this site and what a joy. It is small but has everything you need. Facilities were spotless and the owner was the most friendliest I have ever encountered during my 18 years of visiting France. Nothing was too much trouble, she even phoned and made me an appointment with an English speaking doctor in the village when I needed it. Pitches are large and easy to access with both sun and shade being available. They allocated us a large pitch, not usually on sale to the caravan club for a small additional charge on arrival. Access is good, we have a 9m motorhome towing a small car on an a-frame. Annecy and Geneva were both easy to visit from the site. There is a Carrefour market within walking distance of the site, together with bars and restaurants in the village. Bread can be ordered from reception and there is a small snack bar/bar on site which is reasonably priced. One word of caution, follow the caravan club directions as we used a satnav, which we can enter our dimensions into, but still took us through mountain roads which were ok but not really desirable.

Lovely Site

Le Vaugrais

We stayed here in August 2016 at the height of the summer season. The site is not too large and the facilities are good and cleaned regularly. The site owners/managers are very friendly and extremely helpful. The pool was a bit busy as it was school holiday time, but it was warm and regularly checked for water quality. There is a small restaurant with some entertainment available. Children are catered for with a kids club every day and a bouncy castle most times. There is fresh bread available to order every day from reception. WiFi is free in reception or for a small charge you can have it on your pitch, it worked well. There are very limited places of interest close to the site and so you have to drive to them, but this is not a problem. There are, however, a number of walks around the campsite area and the staff will happily lend maps etc for you to enjoy them. Overall a very nice site and highly recommended.

Super Site

Le Vaugrais
Myself and my husband visited in August 2016. The pitch we were given had sun and a little shade, was huge and had its own garden shed containing umbrellas and a stand, a BBQ, 2 sunloungers, 6 plastic chairs, a large plastic table, a coffee table and a fully working fridge. The site managers were delightful and attentive. The facilities were clean and in good order. The site is about a 10 minute walk into Artemare which is a small village but has 2 Boulangeres, a very small market (4 stalls) on a Wednesday and a pizza bar/restaurant which we can definitely recommend. It also has a little 2 star Logis hotel which has an absolutely fantastic little restaurant, very French, take your dictionary though as nobody spoke English here! The food was amazing. The site is in a very quiet area with lovely views all around. It is about 1 hour from Annecy and 40 minutes from Lac de Bourget and Aix Les Bains. Bellay is also worth a visit and there's a good market in the neighbouring village on a Tuesday. The site is good for small children but probably not for teenagers. The on site snack bar is good but very limited, I think they could add a salad or 2 to the menu, if they had we would have eaten there more often. All in all a really lovely site in a beautiful area and we would definitely return.

Excellent Site

Le Vaugrais
I've just returned from my second visit to this site. It is in lovely quiet village but with all the facilities you could want just a short drive away. The owners are two of the most pleasant people I have ever met! The site is clean and tidy and the plots spacious. Access is easy too. I would definitely recommend this site to anyone planning to explore the southern end of the Jua or Western Savoie
