Why stay here ...

This modern site set on the banks of Lake Lugano is well-equipped for active family holidays. As well as the lakeside beach, with its boating ramp and water sports, there’s a swimming pool, tennis and volleyball to keep children entertained.

The site is open all year, making it a good base for snow sports in winter, and the facilities are available for most of the season. The bar/restaurant has a pleasant terrace from which to enjoy a morning coffee or a meal.

Camping Lugano is well placed for exploring the nearby towns of Agno and Lugano, southern Switzerland and northern Italy. Panoramic views can be enjoyed at the top of Monte San Salvatore, which is accessed by a funicular that ascends a distance of 1,660m in 12 minutes. Visit Paradiso and take a cruise on Lake Lugano to admire the unspoiled beauty of the surrounding forest.

Stunning location by a beautiful Swiss lake

Stayed for two nights on return from Italy and an excellent choice for those enroute to/from places much further south. Very popular with Swiss families looking to enjoy the sunnier weather offered by Ticino. Pitches are on the small side, with tight access along the narrow roadways. Larger units would probably have to be sited well away from the lake. Lakeside is well managed with large grassy areas for sitting out or sunbathing. Safe bathing within a cordoned-off area of the lake and there is also an excellent pool which stays open well into the evening. Only criticism is that the site can be hard to find and is some distance from the town which can be inconvenient for motorhome users who don’t want to drive out.

A pleasant 3 night stay by the lake.

Lovely setting by lake Lugano with nice surrounding scenery. The pitches were tight and indistinct as no markings or even numbers other than on the site map. This caused problems for some who had to move when new occupants arrived and found them half way in their pitch! We made use of the pool, though had to take care as it was surrounded by many bees drinking from the puddles. The lake was murky and dirty looking, so we stayed out of it. Had a great trip to Paradiso to take the cable car up Mount San Salvador. Well worth the trip and moderate cost. Had a nice meal and drinks in the restaurant overlooking the lake and surrounding hills with the Alps in the distance. Wasn't impressed with the lake 'cruise' we took from Paradiso which was expensive and more like a water bus with no commentary at all.

One night stay

We stayed at TCS Camping Lugano for one night on our way to Monaco. The site is located on the shore of the lake and if you get a pitch near the water the views are great. The rest of the site is spread back from the lake, with plenty of tree cover against the hot sun, with several permanent pitches. The pitches are not like we are used to in the UK but they suffice. The facilities were clean and tidy but appeared to be communal - again no real problem. Lugano itself is about 3 1/2 miles away and we used taxi's which proved to be very expensive, its well worth a visit but get there under "your own Steam". The site is situated at the end of the airport runway but although there were flights in and out it was not too much trouble. Would we go again - definite yes.

Shame about the staff

Idyllic setting - though nearby airport opens at 7am so no lie-ins! Pitch sizes are generous and site is well laid out. Took longer than expected to 'settle in' as the staff were all first-language Italian, yet all on-site signage is only printed in German. In the absence of any obvious fresh & grey water facilities our Receptionist really wasn't at all helpful. Our experience of the bar/restaurant didn't endear us to the staff there either - in fact the waitress and manager were quite disagreeable to the point of being very unpleasant to us at the end of our very average meal. In the shop, one of the assistant's attitude was extremely poor - all pointing to lack of adequate customer service training. The site deserves much better - hope it doesn't affect your enjoyment - perhaps we were just unlucky.
