In 1964, the founder of Swift, Ken Smith, built his first touring caravan, The Ten, in premises in Hedon Road, Hull and this model was sold for £289.  By 1970 Swift had expanded its range to six models all decorated with their trademark two-tone exteriors in pale green and white.  Their dealer network had expanded to 30 dealers in the United Kingdom.  The Group had also moved to their present home in Dunswell Road in Cottingham.  Swift was the first caravan or motorhome manufacturer to launch their first website, www.swiftgroup.co.uk in the late 1990s.
