This February kids can stay at all UK Club sites for just £1 per night. We’ve rounded up some of the best half term activities in the UK and Europe including events and ideas to help you keep the kids entertained.


Sherwood Forest Country Park, Nottinghamshire

Sherwood Forest Country Park

The legendary home of Robin Hood, kids will enjoy exploring the 450 acre country park, playing in the adventure playground, following the nature trails and spotting the many different bird species.

For budding astronomers there’s a stargazing event in the forest on 10 February or for a more hands on experience there are bird box making sessions running from 14 to 21 February (booking required).

London

Big Ben in London

There’s always so much to see and do in London and this February half term there are lots of free events taking place to keep the kids entertained. The Southbank Centre is running the Imagine Children’s Festival with lots of free activities, children’s theatre and readings by inspirational authors.

Most museums in London are free to enter and there are lots of fascinating landmarks and beautiful parks to explore. Take a look at Visit London’s 31 free things to do in London with kids for more inspiration and cheap days out.

Ty Mawr Country Park, Wrexham

Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, Wrexham

Pronounced ‘ti mour’, this country park is great for walks along the River Dee and under the Cefn Viaduct. Explore nature trails or follow the Cefn Heritage Trail – make sure to take the bikes as there’s even a BMX track.

Nearby Llangollen Outdoors, provides a wide range of activities from aqueduct tours to bushcraft and gorge walking to paddle boarding. Don’t forget your wet weather gear!

Stockton-on-Tees

White water rafting at Tees Barrage

The main attraction in this area is Tees Barrage which is an international white water centre where you can navigate the 300 metres of rapid waters by raft or kayak and tackle the biggest artificial drop in the UK.

If you don’t fancy getting wet, there’s a retail park for shopping and cinema trips and a trampoline park. Venture a little further out and explore High Force, a waterfall on the River Tees or enjoy a day out in Staithes – one of the largest fishing ports on the North East coast. Dogs will love this area too, as there’s a novel canine restaurant; Wags and Whiskers that has a menu for both humans and dogs.

North Norfolk

Visit the iconic North Norfolk coastline for wonderful beaches and amazing wildlife. The Wash National Nature Reserve is the biggest in England and has some of the most important wetland in the UK. There are four RSPB reserves to choose from in this area, each teeming with different wildlife to spot. Various events are taking place in February including Harrier Watch or Beginners Birding at Titchwell Marsh.

Edinburgh

Giant Lanterns of China at Edinburgh Zoo

This February we recommend a visit to Edinburgh Zoo to see the Giant Lanterns of China, where 450 giant lanterns illuminate the Zoo including large scale pandas, lions, native birds and penguins. Visitors will be entertained with special surprises such as performances, food and craft stalls (running until 25 February).

Carnaval de Paris, France

For one day only on 11 February, the streets of Paris come alive with a festive street parade accompanied with live music, opulent masks and colourful costumes. The parade starts at Place Gambetta and winds through iconic Parisian streets finishing up at the Place de la République.

Villandry Château Jardins, France

Villandry Château, Loire Valley

Located in the Loire Valley, the Château of Villandry is the last of the great châteaux of the Loire built during the Renaissance. This place is a true gem, the elegance of its architecture combined with the spectacular gardens make this a truly memorable family visit.

Climb to the top of the castle tower for wonderful views over the château gardens and beyond. There is also a children’s play area and hedge maze for the kids to have fun. Visit this half term and kids under 8 go free!

Winter sports in Austria

Innsbruck is the winter playground for families with child friendly ski slopes designed for beginners, toboggan runs and much more fun for the family to enjoy together. If you’re looking for family fun off the slopes, join in with the traditional Austrian family carnival which takes place on 10 February.

Malaga Picasso Museum, Spain

Take a day trip to Malaga, known for its art scene, join a one-hour guided tour of the Picasso Museum, every Wednesday at 11.30am kids under 18 go free! Located in the heart of Malaga, the museum is home to 133 pieces of work by the famous Spanish painter Pablo Picasso. This is both an educational and cultural experience that the whole family can enjoy.

The Algarve is known for its beautiful golden beaches and golf resorts, but see more of this fascinating region and spend time on the beach exploring the fascinating rock formations of Lagos or Praia da Rocha.

Follow the cliff pathways for enjoyable walks with scenic views or try something new and take a family surfing lesson. For something more easy-going, you can enjoy a spot of crabbing in the rockpools.
