Hot on the heels of its success in April’s Memcom awards, The Caravan Club website at www.caravanclub.co.uk was awarded the accolade of ‘Top Tour Operator’ in the annual TravelMole Web Awards. With 1,400 travel industry websites nominated, this year’s competition was the biggest in the event’s history.
The contending websites were thoroughly evaluated by a team of leading tourism executives and international tourism MBA students who examined such aspects as user friendliness, quality of content, visual impact, and functionality. The all-important speed and ease of loading the pages was judged to see exactly how easy the booking process was.
Receiving the award during a high profile ceremony at the Canadian High Commission, The Caravan Club’s Head of Ecommerce, Natasha Shane commented: “It’s all down to usability and accessibility, and we worked very hard with our agency, TMG, to ensure we got it spot on for our one million members.”
The Caravan Club’s website was relaunched on 15 November 2006 and has grown considerably, not only in traffic flow, but also in online site bookings and ecommerce transactions. Over the period from relaunch to date versus the same period the previous year, online site bookings had increased by 37% and shop transactions by 41%.
