Blackwater Valley fishing
18 March 2008
The Blackwater Valley is one of the best regions for coarse fishing in England, it has been asserted.
Bordering Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire, tourism board VisitBritain explains that the location provides a wide range of opportunities for anglers to engage in their favourite pastime.
Notable waterways include the River Blackwater, the Basingstoke Canal and the region also boasts nearly 60 still waters - such as Yateley Lakes, which is home to some of the largest carp in Britain.
The online resource explains that the River Blackwater has healthy stocks of aquatic life, noting that trout and barbel have returned to the lower portions of the watercourse in recent years.
Attracting fishers from across the globe, Willow Park and Gold Valley Lakes also provide ample opportunities for anglers to enjoy fishing in the English countryside.
Online resource Blackwater Valley Countryside explains that much has been done to improve the water quality of the river in recent years and notes that the otter, which has been absent from the site for more than 40 years, has recently returned.
