The benefits of taking a break with family members have been outlined by a sector commentator.
In news that may interest people planning to go touring round the country, John McDonald, director of the Family Holiday Association (FHA), explained in recent days that such vacations can make for a stronger and more content family unit.
"From the family's perspective, the single biggest improvement is simply spending time together and bonding. So a holiday - as we all know intuitively - is good for you," he added.
Concluding, Mr McDonald also noted the potential benefits that a vacation can have on people's mental wellbeing.
The FHA works to promote the quality of family life by promoting access to holidays and other recreational activities for parents and children who experience disadvantage as a result of poverty.
Approximately 1,250 families took a holiday during 2007 as a result of the FHA's grant-making scheme.
