Centenary events

In 2007, The Caravan Club celebrated 100 years of supporting, promoting and developing caravanning in the British Isles with a series of special events and exhibitions.

The events included:-

Royal Garden Party

By kind permission of Her Majesty The Queen a Royal Garden Party was held to celebrate the Centenary of The Caravan Club on Monday 23rd July 2007. Thousands of members got to enjoy this fantastic occasion. Find out more about this very special event.

The Lord Mayor's show

On 10th November The Lord Mayor’s Show included a Club float. The brainchild of the Anglia Region, to celebrate the Club’s Centenary, this was the first time The Club had participated in this historic London event.

National Rally

One of the biggest events of the year was The Club's 80th National Rally, which took place in the grounds of Blenheim Palace from 25th - 29th May 2007. The 2008 rally was announced and will be held at Holkham Hall between 23rd  - 27th May 2008 

Centenary Exhibition

The NEC Exhibition in February 2007 and again in October 2007 housed a Centenary Exhibition to mark the year.  Members were able to see The Wanderer caravan of Gordon Stables, the founder of the leisure caravan movement and ‘The Caravan of the Future’. There were displays from the Club’s archives, a short film and much, much more.

The Centenary Ball

The ball brought 1,000 members together to celebrate 100 years of The Caravan Club. The Ball was held at The Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on Friday 1st June 2007

Centenary celebrations on site - 14th June

To celebrate The Club's 100th birthday all of our sites organised their own celebrations on The Club's birthday - 14th June 2007. These events took place throughout the day and ranged from cheese and wine parties to Morris dancing and Hog roasts.

Irish Centenary celebration rally

The Irish Division celebrated The Caravan Club's centenary year by running a fun weekend at Naas Racecourse, County Kildare with entertainment to suit everyone. Open to all Club members the rally ran from 24 to 27 August 2007. Naas itself is a picturesque area within easy access of Dublin City Centre and all its attractions.

Scottish Tartan Ball

The Scottish Caravan Club held a Ceilidh Style Tartan Ball on Saturday 23rd June 2007 to Celebrate the Centenary of The Caravan Club at the Dunblane Hydro Perthshire FK15 OHG.
