The Caravan Club has teamed up with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in a three-year alliance as the Species Champion of the Song Thrush. This timid, endangered bird was chosen because the habitat on many Club Sites – thick hedgerows, open farmland and native woodland – is well suited to the species.
Many Caravan Club sites are situated within 10 miles of an RSPB reserve, with two Club Sites being Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Aren’t Birds Brilliant!
Get closer to wild birds with the RSPB’s Aren’t Birds Brilliant initiative. Many events, most of which provide top of the range optical equipment for the perfect view, will be held close to Club Sites in 2008. Walks at Top Lodge
The RSPB are running evening bird walks in Fineshade Woods exclusively for Caravan Club members staying at Top Lodge Club Site. Fineshade Woods is the home of the fabulous red kite reintroduced in 2000 and now numbering around 600 birds in the area. The woods are home to many other birds such as buzzards, woodpeckers, cuckoos, warblers and jays.

New England Bay talks
The Warden of the RSPB reserve at th Mull of Galloway will be giving talks at New England Bay on 'Birds and Wildlife of the South Rhins' throughout the summer.
The Mull of Galloway reserve has the largest mainland seabird colony in south-west Scotland, with Fulmars, Guillemots, Razorbills, Kittiwakes and Shags, plus Gannets and Puffins visible offshore.
The talks will be held in the Games Room at New England Bay, commencing at 3pm of the following dates:
