Thank you for taking an interest in the University of Bath Caravan Towing Safety Survey.

For well over 15 years, research on the science of caravan stability has been carried out by The Caravan Club and the University of Bath.
As well as providing a wealth of understanding of the theory behind the practical advice offered by The Club and others, these studies have led to published papers and a number of research degrees, including 2 PhDs (so far!). Further work in conjunction with Bailey Caravans has led to the development of practical tools to demonstrate stability issues.
Some of you may have seen the scale model car and caravan stability simulator rig on the Bailey stand at the NEC that illustrates the effect of loading on towing safety, or you may have visited the caravan stability website set up by the University and Baileys, which includes a simple caravan loading game which shows how critical the placement of payload within the caravan is.

As a continuation of this programme, we would now like to ask you to take part in a survey to establish how well informed you are in respect of towing safety and caravan loading.
The survey is completely anonymous and you will not be asked for any contact details.
The questionnaire comprises 42 questions and we estimate that you will need 10 to 15mins to complete it.
We will not contact you regarding your answers and we can guarantee that you won't be added to mailing lists as a result of completing the questionnaire.

The survey is being organised by Dr Jos Darling, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Bath and he is grateful for all your contributions to assist with the research.
