Caravan design awards

The 2008 Caravan Design Awards, the 13th time they've been held, attracted 58 entries this time round. As in previous years, the awards were held at the National Boat, Caravan and Outdoor show at the NEC in February.

There were 6 individual classes, one more than previous years due to the addition of a dedicated fifth wheel category, with numerous entries in each. The classes were:

  • Class 1 - Any Caravan under £11,000
  • Class 2 - Family Caravan £11,000 to £14,999
  • Class 3 - Two berth Caravan £11,000 to £14,999
  • Class 4 - Caravan with dedicated bed(s) £11,000 to £14,999
  • Class 5 - Any Caravan over £15,000
  • Class 6 - Any Fifth Wheel Caravan

Judges and technical experts assessed everything from the interior designs of the bedroom, kitchen and bathroom to the exterior design of security, lockers and awning provision. They also took other issues into account such as warranty conditions and handbook content and accuracy.

The Club's Chairman, Grenville Chamberlain was present to announce the awards and congratulate the winners personally.
