Published:
25 February 2010
2009 saw caravanning become even more popular in the UK, with
half a million extra bed nights taken on Caravan Club sites.
Caravanning offers affordable and flexible holidaying and is the
best way to explore the great outdoors. Want to see what all the
fuss is about and be part of the caravanning revolution but feel
nervous about actually towing or driving one? Then hot-foot it
along to Caravan & Boat Show 23-28 February 2010, where Caravan
Club experts will be on hand offering free taster sessions to
anyone from beginners to the more experienced who just want to
hone their skills for the 2010 season. Try either caravan towing,
in a top of the range Land Rover Discovery 4, or driving a motor
caravan in the latest models by Swift. Book you place on The
Caravan Club stand (4002) and don't forget your driving
licence.
The Caravan Club also runs full manoeuvring training courses
throughout the year at 15 centres nationwide, offering three
different courses to choose from, 'Practical Caravanning' for the
less experienced caravanner, 'Caravan Manoeuvring' for caravanners
with manoeuvring difficulties and 'Motor Caravan Driving' for those
new to motor caravanning, there is something for everyone.
Courses include:
- Understanding loading and its effects on driving
- Hitching up and towing, safely and efficiently
- Practice in manoeuvring an outfit forwards and backwards,
easily and confidently
- Simple technical information to encourage user checks
- Everyday safety checks and the law affecting motor
caravanners
- Defensive driving
- The principles of towing or driving a larger vehicle
Len Short, Events Manager for The Caravan Club, said: "We are
delighted to offer the taster sessions at the show for all
visitors. It gives those who have never towed or driven a motor
caravan before the chance to try before they buy, but these
sessions are also good for those who just wish to improve their
confidence or ask an instructor for help and advice on a particular
area they find difficult. Some people may also be thinking about
buying a new towcar and these sessions give them the opportunity to
try out the latest 4x4 models that we are using."
