Tourism takes centre stage at Westminster as the three main parties line up for British Tourism Week

Europe's premier touring organisation, The Caravan Club, was
once again proud to be sponsoring the Tourism Alliance MPs'
Reception on the launch day of British Tourism Week, 15 March 2010,
in the Palace of Westminster.
The line-up of speakers for the Reception included the Rt Hon
Margaret Hodge MP, Minister of State Department for Culture, Media
and Sport (DCMS), Tobias Ellwood MP, Shadow Minister, DCMS and Don
Foster MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Secretary of State, DCMS.
The assembled gathering of MPs and representatives from tourism
organisations across the UK were keen to hear how each party views
their industry.
The Caravan Club and its one million members sit at the heart of
British tourism, with caravanners contributing over £1 billion
annually to local economies and in related motoring taxes when
enjoying their favourite leisure pursuit. This is in addition
to the budgeted £12.7 million, most of which will benefit local
contractors, that The Club is spending on site redevelopment and
acquisition during 2010.
With the largest privately-owned sites network in the UK, The
Caravan Club offers a choice of around 3,000 destinations, from
smaller, maximum 5-van sites known as Certificated Locations on
farms, country estates and beside pubs, to larger full facility
sites in locations ranging from the heart of Britain's National
Parks, to deepest countryside, and from stunning coastline to
Greater London.
Nick Lomas, Marketing Director at The Caravan Club, commented;
"The Caravan Club is at the forefront of the domestic tourism
economy. Together with our tourism industry colleagues, we
are proud to highlight the importance of this key economic activity
and ensure the message is heard at the very highest levels."
