Previously an historic mill, Burrs Country Park Caravan Club Site has much to offer the whole family - from relaxing river and countryside walks to contemporary art, and with the nostalgic East Lancashire Steam Railway passing by. The caravan site also gives you easy access to the beautiful country park situated just north of Bury town centre, and is handy for trips into Manchester using the direct tramlink. The city of Manchester, just half an hour away by Tramlink, is a perfect base for big football matches, concerts and events, not to mention the extensive retail therapy options that Manchester has to offer. The Bury Tramlink station is just a 25 minute walk or short bus journey away.

Burrs Country Park Caravan Club Site is based around the River Irwell and the remains of two cotton mills - Higher Woodhill Mill and Burrs Mill. Extensive development of the mill has left interesting archaeological remains and water courses in the area. Those who enjoy outdoor pursuits will not be disappointed - there are loads of opportunities for fun activities adjacent to the site, from climbing, abseiling and canoeing to a purpose built training pool, slalom courses on the river and lots of interesting walking trails. Travelling north and east of Bury, you will find picturesque countryside with numerous small towns and villages, with industrial heritage to explore.

Train Lovers Paradise

4 out of 5

First timers to this site and it won't be the last. As usual first class facilities albeit limited in quantity for the pitches available. The trains pass on the East Lancs Railway at regular intervals with different themes throughout the year, the weekend we stayed was diesel weekend but we did get to see some steam trains on Friday. One downside was the very poor quality of the broadband facility, yes I know you don't go away to sit on the Internet but if you've paid for a 12 month service it would be nice to be able to use it. No play area for the children but the country park is only just outside the entrance. And of course The Brown Cow public house on the doorstep is a bonus, we didn't try the food but what we saw and heard it was top notch grub. We will be back soon.

Excellent Campsite

5 out of 5

A superb campsite which we stayed at recently whilst visiting the East Lancs Railway. Excellent facilities, spotlessly clean and in good order. The Warden was warm and welcoming after a long journey and a 'fount of knowledge' regarding local attractions. It should be noted that the grass pitches are not used during the latter months of the year hence you need to book well in advance as the site is very popular for the reasons stated above!

Hidden Gem

We ere looking for a site under an hour away to use for weekend break and found Burrs Park. Great location for all things Lancashire so go on, give it a go.
