Friendly welcome. Peaceful location not far from motorway. But NO SHOWERS available. The CAMC listing is inaccurate.

Winterley CL
A good site for a stop over. The site is on the edge of a residential area and overlooks fields. It is peaceful, and you can barely hear the traffic noise from main roads nearby (it was drowned out by birdsong). The owners live on site and are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Can’t really comment on access to local tourist attractions as we didn’t try to get to any. Didn’t sample any of the (few) local hostelries. The site was effectively their back garden. We drove in past the cherry tree and pitched amongst garden ornaments, and pretty planters and hanging baskets. The pitch was dead level and easy to drive into. There’s plenty of space to manoeuvre. On the grassed area was garden furniture so we had breakfast outdoors both mornings. WC (his and hers) are in a portacabin. It’s dated but clean. There is no shower - CAMC listing incorrect. Our dogs were swiftly at home. Limited walks nearby although the former mill pond at the other end of Pool Lane was worth a visit to see geese and swan.

Great stopover

Winterley CL
Just one night so I can't comment on access to places of interest but a short drive off the M6 driving past a petrol station, Waitrose and some other shops that might be handy. Within ten minutes walk are a pub and a Chinese takeaway (was a restaurant but they haven't reopened the seating area since Covid). Didn't use the pub but a very good takeaway. The CL is effectively a large garden with new build houses around it. The area seems to be upmarket commuter belt and it's very quiet. Plenty of country lanes to wander. There are toilets in a portacabin and hook up, water, etc. We had a friendly welcome. I suspect that if you have a particularly large unit or caravan you might struggle but I'd ask. And it would seem probably an odd place to be based for a long period but for passing through for a night or two it's great.

Poor CL

Winterley CL
This site was obviously very pleasant when it was first reviewed and according to the photos had lovely views. When we booked a pitch the site owner did say that he hoped we would not be disturbed by the building next door of a house. HOWEVER it was not 1 house but 21 new properties which totally encircled the CL site. We presumed he had sold off the field. The electricity on site did not always want to work! and the TV reception was POOR. Everything was outdated and should be reviewed again. Also squashed onto a very diminished area was a static van, a large motorhome and a towing caravan which made the site very 'cosy. The only good thing was that the site owner and his wife were very pleasant. Such a shame as it must have been so good.

Great Site

Winterley CL
Stayed here as I was travelling south. Easy to find with no problems as the instructions were very clear. A small site, very quiet with all facilities as listed. The welcome on arrival by the owner was excellent with a choice of pitches whereby I opted for a view of a field with cattle happily grazing. If travelling north/south on the M6, this is a superbly convenient location with the option of coming off and re-entering at the next junction, whether north or south, whichever way you are going.
