Why stay here ...

Our CL is in a quiet location, set on a field with large hard standing pitches (40ft length) each with individual electric hook-up. All family members welcome including your pet dog. There is plenty of space on the field to set up a family game of rounder's, or just let the kids run. We welcome large motorhomes and 5th wheelers. We have onsite recycling/waste disposal an Elson and Water points. A bus stop is located outside the entrance to the CL site, that can take you to Maldon, Chelmsford or Burnham On Crouch or head out to the train station to get into London which is only 40 miles away.

There are local shops within a couple of miles of the site, a Promenade Park and Hythe Quay that holds the famous Maldon Mud Race! Maldon is also renowned for its maritime heritage, with boat cruises lasting up to 2 hours. There is also a Museum of Power and Combined Military Museum within 5 miles of the site. For the kids there is Madison Heights within a mile, wear them out in Monkey Puzzle or take them skating or get the balls spinning in a game of bowling.

Great friendy welcome from Cheryl & Graham,. Site very clean and well maintained. Even with a rally on site it was still very peaceful. Will definitely be going back.

Stayed here for a week visiting relatives. There are plenty of footpaths close to the site taking you in to Maldon where there are shops and a park with activities for children. Walking through fields or along the coastline. Handy for visiting Northey Island (National Trust - call first for permit only accessible at low tide). Plenty of shops in Maldon including a good supermarket. Bus service to Maldon although it is walkable, about 2.5 miles. Electricity topped up by owner with card, £5 or £10. £10 lasted us the week not much heating required when we were there. Enjoyed our stay!

The sign with arrows showing where to pitch is attached to a large gate. The gate swings and can be left open. On arrival we looked at the sign and the directions were 90 degrees out, consequently we went the wrong way. Who I assume was the owner talked to me like I was stupid. I think we all know who the stupid one is; the one who put the direction sign on a swinging gate. There really is no need to be rude. Footpath overgrown and impassable to Maldon. Walking down the road has no footpath and fast moving traffic. Basicly without transport you are stuck here. No buses available when we were there.

This is a nice little site, and in a good location if you want to drive to places. If you enjoy a walk to local amenities/pubs etc its not for you. The owners were friendly and helpful enough and despite the card meter for electric it didn't cost too much. The showers we didn't use as it seemed they were shared by the local garage. There are sites in the area which are much better overall than this site !!

Stayed here in October 2012 and although it's not a bad site with a bus stop right outside the entrance, there was a few vans that looked like they were long term on site, like people with local work. Another thing - be careful when using the electric metering system on this site, it could cost you a small fortune, especially if you plan to stay for a while. This was our experience and when questioned about it the owner just said that it was checked regularly and that was that. Just be careful.
