Kingsclere Certificated Locations

Kingsclere is an attractive village in the north of Hampshire, well within range of the New Forest National Park.

It offers a superb base for walking at the foot of the South Downs, not least because the closest of them is Watership Down, the setting for Richard Adams' famous novel of that title about a group of rabbits. A plaque commemorating the author stands on the down.

The down itself has plenty of rabbits now and walkers can also see other places mentioned in the book, such as Nuthanger Farm. Kingsclere itself is also mentioned in the book.

Downton Abbey fans are also in for a treat, as Highclere Castle, where the series is set, is just a few miles to the west. The castle and gardens are open to the public in the summer.
